One of miHoYo’s greatest products is a true visual delight. It’s quite unlikely that you’ve not heard of Genshin Impact, which is now on its way to becoming a billion dollar game.

Genshin Impact has often been associated with mobile gaming, but it also has an extremely popular PC version.

This is great news for a lot of people who just play better with a mouse and a keyboard.

Before you read beginner tutorials for Genshin Impact, read this article that we have put together for the necessary system requirements. We also included some of our tips, tricks, and recommendations for brands or alternatives. We will not only help ensure that your PC can run Genshin Impact, but we also want you to have the choice of running the game at the desired performance that you want.

Minimum System Requirements for Genshin Impact

CPU: Intel Core i5 equivalent or higher

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 or higher

RAM: 8 GB

STORAGE: At least 30 GB of free space

OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit, Windows 8.1 64-Bit, Windows 10 64-Bit

CPU

To run Genshin Impact, you would need at least an Intel Core i5 or something equivalent. We’re assuming this can be something as low as a 1st gen i5 which means the AMD equivalent would be an FX 6300. However, between the two, go for the i5 instead.

On the other hand, miHoYo recommends that you should have an Intel Core i7, something equivalent, or higher. This means you can also buy an AMD Ryzen 7. In fact, we recommend going the AMD route if you’re really trying to build a gaming PC.

Since Genshin Impact is an online role playing game, it has a lot of units, RNG, and AI that need to be processed quickly. We personally recommend choosing a powerful CPU that can support Genshin Impact and other video games too.

Get a minimum of Intel Core i5 7th gen or even an AMD Ryzen 7. You won’t regret it.

GPU

The lowest system requirement for Genshin Impact is an Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 or something equivalent. You could purchase an AMD RX 550 as a comparable alternative.

For the recommended graphics card, miHoYo says and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or higher would be best. An AMD equivalent is the RX 580.

To be honest, you can’t go wrong with either the baseline or the recommended ones. Though Genshin Impact is undoubtedly a visual candy, it is not heavy on the graphics card. In fact, there are some findings that it doesn’t use a GPU at all so you can definitely get away using a CPU with integrated graphics.

Our recommendation? Get an AMD Ryzen 5 3400G as your processor and scrap the graphics card altogether. It is being retailed at around $290 and can seriously save you big bucks. It also has a lot of room for upgrades, including a GPU in case you want to buy one in the future.

RAM

According to miHoYo, your RAM should not be lower than 8 GB at the very least. Optimally, the size of your RAM should be 16 GB.

RPGs, like Genshin Impact, can also be notorious for being RAM intensive because of their multiple units. The price between each RAM memory isn’t far off so go with the 16 GB instead. You can get a good one for under $100.

RAM is an extremely important yet rather affordable component of your PC.

Some good RAMs include a Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz which is being sold for $77.99, Crucial Ballistix which is another 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, and an OLOy RAM for something more affordable at $60.

Storage

You would need to have at least 30 GB of space on your PC before you download and install Genshin Impact.

In the initial download, Genshin Impact is 7.83 GB big. Depending on the voice files you download, this can get bigger. Also, as an RPG, Genshin Impact always receives patches, updates, and events which will inevitably increase the game size.

For this reason, you should get a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB HDD at the minimum. These are good baseline figures that will last you for a long time.

Some popular and equally reliable brands include Kingston, Western Digital, and Corsair. You won’t go wrong with any of their products.

Operating System

For both the minimum and recommended system requirements, miHoYo says that your computer should be a Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit, a Windows 8.1 64-Bit, or a Windows 10 64-Bit.

Windows 7 was probably the best, if not the best operating system created by Microsoft. However, that reality has long passed.

Windows 10 is now the way to go. There have been reports of better framerates, a really good architectural support for games, and you can also easily fix bugs through updates.

If for some reason, you only have Windows 7, it’s fine to retain that as your OS. Though, don’t hold off updating. It’s totally free and effortless.

Just go to your Settings then Upgrade and Security. There you will find Activation. A window will appear that will give you the option of upgrading your PC to Windows 10.

Don’t forget to back up your files before you do any upgrading.

Summary

Genshin Impact is a popular online role playing game that requires a pretty solid processor and RAM. If you’re going to invest, invest in these two things. Also, make sure you have a good motherboard that can accommodate upgrades.
