How to Run in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

If you’ve been playing Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, you’ll know that charging around from quest to quest can be a lot of fun. There’s plenty of great levels to explore throughout the game, and each one is full of coins to collect and items to help heal your Heroes.

The default walk speed can feel a little slow in Sparks of Hope, though. Seeing as there are lots of places to explore in the world, it’s good to know how to run and alter your run button preferences in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope where needed.

To help you get around the world quicker, I’ve put together this quick guide on how to run in Sparks of Hope and how to change your button preferences if desired, too.

I’ve also included a bonus section at the end that explains what to do when you run past those funny swirls on the ground. Spoiler alert- it’ll help you to get more coins.

How to Run in Sparks of Hope

While you’re walking around the various worlds in Sparks of Hope, you can hold down the X button to start running. It’s important to note that letting go of the X button means you will immediately stop running and go back to walking.

You can only use the X button to run when you’re not in a battle. Hitting X during a battle will bring up your item inventory.

How to Alter Run Button Preferences

As with most gameplay elements in Sparks of Hope, it’s possible to change up the button preferences for running if you’re not keen on holding the button down every time you want to run somewhere.

Hit the plus button to open up the menu, and select the options tab.

Then, use the R button to tab over to the settings section and open up the controls section in the left-hand side menu.

Scroll down to the ‘boost’ section, and swipe to the side in order to change the button preferences. This will turn it to ‘toggle’ mode, which means that you can press X to make your Hero start sprinting. You’ll need to press it again to stop.

While you’re here, there are other button preferences you can change in this particular menu if desired, too. It’s worth checking them out. For example, you can change the process of feeding Sparks to upgrade them from holding a button to toggling.

I’m a big fan of games that give players plenty of freedom with how they want to play, and I was very happy to see the amount of different options that Sparks of Hope provides. I’d recommend checking out the various menus to see if there is anything else that you want to customize or adjust if you choose to change your run button preferences.

How to Spin in Sparks of Hope

Have you come across any spirals on the ground while exploring in Sparks of Hope? If so, make sure to spin while standing on top of them. Doing this will open up the spiral and reward you with a handful of coins.

To spin, simply twirl the left stick around quickly. If you’re standing on top of the spiral, it will activate it and give you the coins. It’s a simple way to get extra money while playing Sparks of Hope, yet it’s worth noting as it’s not immediately obvious how to do it.

If you’ve been playing through Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, how have you been finding it so far? Please feel free to let me know your thoughts on the game in the comments below, I’d love to hear where you’re at and what you think of the title.
