Aside from having the right strategy and being knowledgeable about the game, to become a great League of Legends player, you also need to make use of the right gear.

One of the core components that will determine whether you perform well in-game is the mouse you use. From its shape and size to the number of buttons available for customization, all those seemingly unimportant details will matter a lot in the end.

As someone who has played League of Legends for numerous years, I know exactly what the perfect mouse should look like.

To help you pick the right mouse for your needs and provide you with a fair number of great alternatives, I went onto the market and compiled a list of the top ten mice suitable for LoL while considering each of the product’s:

  • Size
  • Connectivity
  • Sensor Type
  • DPI
  • RGB Lights
  • Number of Buttons

After that, I narrowed down the selection to the final six that I believe deserved to be reviewed and recommended in this guide.

Why You Can Trust This Review

As a big League of Legends fan and active player, I know the ins and outs of the game. Over the years, I paid close attention to my needs and the needs of the community as a whole, which has allowed me to understand the general LoL player and exactly what they might expect when it comes to a gaming mouse.

Aside from that, using my pre-existing LoL knowledge, I conducted very thorough market research with the goal of finding the best mouse for League of Legends that’s available out there today.

With all that in mind, my goal with this guide and review is to recommend you my most confident picks without any preference or bias for any given brand or product.

How We Picked

In order to pick the best and most suitable gaming mice for League of Legends, during the market research, we took into consideration the following features of each mouse:

Number of Buttons

As League of Legends is quite an action-packed video game that requires you to click a lot of buttons, the very first thing that we looked at is the number of buttons available on each mouse. Just because a mouse has several programmable buttons, that doesn’t mean that you should use them all but we decided to include mice with at least six just to give you the flexibility and option to bind keys to your mouse should you want to.

Size

If you’ve ever played or used a mouse that is either too small or too big for your hands, it is a pretty uncomfortable feeling, which will not only affect your in-game performance but will also begin to hurt your hand and wrist over time.

As a result of that, we made sure to include a range of mice that vary in size from small to large.

Connectivity

While wired mice were considered the industry standard since the initiation of computers, over the last decade, some gamers from all over the world have started to opt-in for wireless mice.

As a result of this increase in demand, we believe that it is only fair to include a number of both wired and wireless models.

Sensor Type

On the market for gaming mice, there are two types of sensors – optical and laser. While conducting our research, we didn’t come across any particularly suitable laser LoL gaming mice, and as a result, in this guide, we will only be reviewing models with optical sensors.

DPI

Dots-per-inch, which is also known as DPI refers to the dots per inch that your mouse will react to. The higher the DPI, the more sensitive the mouse will be. And of course, as every gamer is different, we made sure to include a vast range of mice with DPI settings that range from 100 all the way up to 25,600 – giving you plenty of flexibility to find your preferred DPI speed.

RGB Lights

Nearly every gamer around the world has at least one piece of equipment that is RGB-enabled. As a result of the huge demand, we made sure to include a number of great LoL mice that feature very impressive RGB lights.

Of course, for those that aren’t particularly big fans of RGB lights, you can simply just turn them off using the mouse’s software.

If you are looking for the best gaming mouse for League of Legends, out least in our opinion, the Logitech G Pro Wireless is easily the best option on the market today. Don’t only take our word for it, many LoL pro players in the likes of Liquid’s CoreJJ and Fnatic’s Upset and Selfmade also use this mouse as part of their tournament setups.

The price at the time of writing was $91.99.

Design

Visually speaking, Logitech’s G PRO Wireless features one of the simplest designs that we’ve come across during our research. The mouse is wrapped up in black while the logo is transparent, allowing for the RGB lights to light through.

As far as the actual shape of the mouse, it is ambidextrous, which means that the mouse can be used equally as well by both left and right-handed LoL gamers. Thanks to its size, which measures 4.92″ (L) x 1.57″ (H) x 2.5″ (W) and weighs only 2.88 ounces, any gamer with small to medium-sized hands can comfortably make use of the mouse.

Performance

As this mouse is wireless, many gamers would naturally think that it isn’t as responsive as it would be if it was wired. Logitech have come a long way over the years and now claim that this particular wireless model hosts a lighting-fast response rate of just 1ms.

One of the core features of this Logitech model is the HERO optical sensor, which allows you to reach a DPI of up to 25,600. Now, this is quite a sensitivity, and most LoL players won’t need to go that high but it is there if you need it.

Another awesome aspect of the G PRO is the build quality of the buttons all around. Logitech are so confident in this mouse that they confidently state that the mouse can last for upwards of 50 million clicks. That is a lot of clicks, which you will definitely be raking up over time when playing League of Legends.

Best Budget Gaming Mouse for League of Legends

In our opinion, the Logitech G203 is the best budget-friendly mouse for League of Legends. Despite its affordable price point, this mouse is so good that even pro players in the likes of Showmaker, Canyon, and Khan use it.

The price at the time of writing was $29.99.

Design

From an aesthetic standpoint, this gaming mouse by Logitech hosts one of the most compact and simple designs from the lot. The G203 only measures 4.5″ (L) x 2.4″ (W) x 1.5″ (H) and weighs a total of 4.80 ounces, allowing you to play without getting any fatigue from prolonged gaming sessions.

Along the backside of the mouse and the logo which you can see at the forefront of the mouse, the RGB lights will shine through and give you one of the most impressive illuminations that can be found in any mouse on the market. Using the G HUB software, you can customize the mouse and opt-in for different modes or pick one of the 16.8 million colors available.

Performance

The gaming-grade optical sensor is really what sets this mouse apart from its competition at this price point. You have the complete freedom to customize your DPI to a range of up to 8,000.

Alongside the thumb area, you’ll find two fully programmable buttons, which you can customize as per your playstyle. Aside from that, the G203 also hosts a built-in memory board on which you can save up to five DPI profiles. You can access and switch between each of them using the DPI button.

The two main buttons of the G203 are fully mechanical and are equipped with long-lasting metal springs, which add an additional level of durability, performance, and feeling.

I currently use the G203 for gaming, and while everything is fantastic, I wouldn’t recommend you to bind more than one DPI profile on the DPI button.

Runner Up

The Logitech G703 Lightspeed is one of the most widely used gaming mice in the League of Legends community. Both pro and casual players make use of this model due to its incredible battery life, sensor, and lightweight design.

The price at the time of writing was $79.00.

Design

Design-wise, the G703 by Logitech is probably one of my favorite-looking mice. The entirety of the mouse is in black while the logo and the scroll wheel are designed in such a way that allows for the RGB backlighting to shine through. It looks pretty cool.

As for comfort, this model brings supreme comfort and durability thanks to its ergonomic design and rubber side grips.

In regards to size, the G703 measures 4.88″ (L) x 2.68″ (W) x 1.69″ (H) and weighs only 3.35 ounces, making it the perfect choice for a gamer with small to medium-sized hands. Furthermore, you can add an additional 10g of weight to the mouse in case its default weight is too light for you.

Performance

The Logitech G703 features the HERO 16K Sensor, which allows for ultra-precise and accurate aiming on a vast range of surfaces. Of course, the mouse works best on gaming mousepads but if you don’t have that at your disposal, it’s not really going to be a big deal.

This next-generation optical sensor is also integrated with technology that guarantees zero smoothing, filtering, or acceleration. It is also 10x more power-efficient compared to any of the previous generations. This is a huge benefit considering the mouse is wireless, allowing the G703 to last for up to 35 hours with no interruptions.

Logitech are that confident in this models’ performance that they claim that the G703 is faster and more responsive even when compared to its wired counterparts. That’s really quite impressive.

One really cool feature of this mouse is its compatibility with wireless charging. Simply add the powerplay wireless USB charging system to your gaming setup and place the mouse over and effortlessly charge it.

The buttons on the mouse are also metal-spring tensioned, which keeps the primary left and right buttons poised to trigger with a lot less force. This will be of tremendous help as in League of Legends, you’ll need to be clicking around a lot.

Other Great Mice for League of Legends

Below, you can find three other great gaming mice suitable for League of Legends.

Logitech G403

Small/MediumWiredOpticalUp to 25,600Yes6

The Logitech G403 is another fantastic gaming mouse for League of Legends. From a smooth and comfortable ergonomic design to a flexible and performing optical sensor, this mouse has it all.

The price at the time of writing was $39.99.

Design

Visually speaking, the G403 features a black and smooth exterior, which looks amazing when combined with the intense RGB illumination that emits through the Logitech logo and scroll wheel.

In regards to shape, the mouse is designed for right-handed gamers and while you grip it, the mouse will position your hand and wrist in a very natural position. As for size, the mouse measures 4.88″ (L) x 2.68″ (W) x 1.69″ (H) and weighs just 3.35 ounces.

Performance

The G403 hosts one of the most advanced optical sensors in the industry – the HERO 25K sensor by Logitech. This sensor allows for 1:1 tracking, 400+ ips, and a DPI customization range from as low as 100 to as high as 25,600. You can also take advantage of the zero smoothing, filtering, or acceleration for that added level of precision.

Using the G HUB, you can configure all 6 of the programmable buttons to simplify your in-game actions, bind keys and complex functionalities. As this mouse is wired, you can expect a great level of performance, which Logitech claim to be up to 8x faster than standard mice (1ms response time).

Aside from that, the buttons on the mouse use spring tensioning, which helps tremendously with response time and actuation as well as force required to press the key.

Note: The Logitech G403 is practically the same mouse as the G703. The only difference is that this model is wired. If you were to use the wireless G403, when compared to the G703, the only difference is the way of charging. With the G703, you can charge the mouse wirelessly whereas, with the G403, you can’t.

Razer DeathAdder v2

The Razer DeathAdder v2  is an upgraded version of the original DeathAdder, which was one of the OG’s in the gaming space when it comes to gaming mice. This model provides supreme comfort, fantastic design, and world-class performance – just about everything you could ask for when it comes to a gaming mouse.

The price at the time of writing was $49.99.

Design

The DeathAdder v2 remains very similar to the first version of this Razer product. This time around, the mouse measures 5″ (L) x 2.87″ (W) x 1.69″ (H) with a total added weight of 6.4 ounces. Compared to the rest, it’s both heavier and larger, making it more suitable for LoL gamers with bigger hands.

In terms of design, it is black with the Razer logo and scroll wheel shining up in Razer’s green brand color.

Performance

The DeathAdder v2 is equipped with the Focus+ optical sensor. This allows for great DPI flexibility that can go as high as 20,000. This particular sensor by Razer specializes in auto-calibration, which will reduce the drift of your cursor when you move, lift, and land the mouse to a pretty great extent for better precision.

In League of Legends, speed matters a lot. The reason why I personally believe that the v2 of the DeathAdder is a great pick for any LoL player is because the two main buttons on the mouse use light beam-based actuation, which is three times faster than traditional mechanical switches. That’s quite the speed.

If you’re a gamer who prefers to have quite a lot of actions and macros binded to your mouse, then you’d be glad to hear that this mouse has a total of eight fully programmable buttons. To customize any of them, simply download the Razer Synapse 3 software and make the necessary changes from there.

Razer Viper Ultimate Hyperspeed

SizeConnectivitySensor TypeDPIRGBNumber of ButtonsBattery Life
MediumWirelessOpticalUp to 20,000Yes870 Hours

The Razer Viper Ultimate Hyperspeed is one of the newer and more advanced models by Razer and is slowly gaining popularity in the League of Legends community both amongst pro and casual players. Definitely a worthy investment for the future.

The price at the time of writing was $147.36.

Design

Measuring at 4.98″ (L) x 2.61″ (W) x 1.49″ (H) and weighing at only 0.87 lbs, Razer confidently claim that this model is the lightest wireless eSports gaming mouse in the world.

One of the most notable features of this mouse is its ambidextrous design, which makes it suitable for both right and left-handed gamers thanks to the flat design and accessible buttons on either side of the mouse.

Performance

The Viper Ultimate is home to the Focus+ optical sensor, which allows you the opportunity to customize your DPI up to 20,000 while you avail of the pixel-precise tracking.

One very impressive feature of this wireless model is its battery life. You can use this mouse to the fullest for up to 70 hours, which is twice as much as compared to the second-best (in terms of battery life) wireless mouse in this guide and review.

If you’re a fan of binding a lot of commands onto your mouse then you’d be pleased to hear that this mouse has a total of eight buttons. Do note that two of the buttons will be quite hard to reach as they would be on the opposite side of your thumb (this is due to the ambidextrous design).

Shopping Tips

When shopping for the right League of Legends mouse for you, please take the following points into consideration before you press the “buy” button.

Wireless vs Wired

In League of Legends, you won’t be expected to move your mouse at insane speeds at all times like in FPS shooter games. As a result, you won’t really experience any cable drag, which happens to be one of the main reasons why gamers often go for wireless mice.

That alone, however, shouldn’t put you off from getting your hands on a wireless mouse. If you are someone who likes the flexibility of using a mouse without a wire and wants to achieve a cleaner-looking gaming station, going cable-free is a great idea.

When it comes to performance, you won’t really find a dramatic difference, at least when it comes to high-end gaming mice. If you are on a budget, however, do note that those wireless products won’t necessarily have the best battery life or response rate.

Consider Your Playstyle and Buttons Needed

In League of Legends, you will find yourself clicking a lot of mouse buttons on a pretty regular basis. As the game is quite complex, top-end players often use key binds on their mouse to enable certain in-game actions. This makes the need for extra mouse buttons necessary.

Now, we aren’t saying that you need to get a mouse with twenty or even ten mouse buttons, but a mouse that has just enough to offer you the flexibility that you need.

When it comes to picking the right mouse for you, you need to consider your playstyle and to what extent you’d like to make use of your mouse while playing. This alone will help you decide on the type of mouse you need.

Picking the Right Mouse

Scenario 1: You are a League of Legends player who is looking to improve every aspect of your in-game performance and as a result, you are looking for the best mouse out there.

In this case, we’d highly recommend you to take a closer look at the Logitech G Pro Wireless.

Scenario 2: You’re a LoL player looking for a suitable gaming mouse without having to spend a whole lot of money. In this scenario, we’d suggest you take a look at our budget-friendly pick, the Logitech G203.

Scenario 3: As an aspiring League of Legends player, you are looking to replicate the success of current LoL professionals. For this case, it would be a good idea for you to take a look at what current pro players are using and make use of it yourself.

We did the research for you and found that the Logitech G Pro Wireless is also the most popular mouse in the LoL pro community.

Final Thoughts

Making use of a mouse that is perfectly suited for League of Legends will give you an edge over the competition that is using just about any gaming mouse out there. You will notice that some of these gaming mice are also super useful in games that are similar to LoL. So, if you happen to play different games as well as LoL, you can really benefit from one of the mice from above.

In this guide and review, our final selection was made up of ten mice. In the end, only six made it (you would have seen them above). Despite that, we believe that the remaining mice at least deserve an honorable mention.

They include the Corsair Harpoon PRO, Glorious Model O, Corsair M55, and the Logitech G903.

After trying to narrow down the best mouses for League of Legends, we’re happy with our selections based on how we like to play; casual enough so that we’re always playing for fun, but competitive enough so that we’re always aiming to win and improve.
