Diluc is one of the strongest main damage dealer characters in Genshin Impact. If you are lucky enough to wish for one, this guide will show the best way on how to build Diluc by explaining to you multiple builds and stats to prioritize.

Here is a preview or showcase of how my Diluc’s build is currently doing.

There is still a lot of room for improvement as I farm more artifact sets but he is already powerful even without perfect rolls. Diluc can solo Cryo Regisvine without the help of teammates at an extremely fast rate. Diluc can also solo the weekly Lupus Boreas, Dominator of Wolves boss.

Best Weapons for Diluc

5-star Wolf’s Greatsword

With a secondary main stat as ATK along with the bonus, this is the best claymore for Diluc. This sword also gives the highest ATK% boost out of all the weapons available and this is the best stat you can get for the main damage dealer like Diluc. The bonus increases base ATK by 20% and increases with each refinement.

It also increases the party’s overall damage by a whopping 40% for 12 seconds while hitting enemies below 30% HP. You will find this buff extremely effective as Diluc will be your main damage dealer in any party setup.

The 5-star Wolf’s Greatsword can only be acquired through wishes except for the promotional character banner.

3-star budget weapons

These are the items you should look at if you were able to get them while pulling. Free-to-play users should never pull for weapon banners as Primogems are extremely scarce in this game. You might find yourself having these budget items or even the free 4-star, Prototype Animus (if you are able to craft this), as a decent main weapon for Diluc

  • Bloodtainted Greatsword – Increases DMG against enemies affected by Pyro or Electro by 12%
  • Quartz – Upon causing an Overloaded, Melt, Burning, Vaporize or a Pyro-infused Swirl elemental reaction, it increases Base ATK by 20% for 12s.

Stat Building for Diluc

Diluc Attributes

Diluc’s elemental burst adds Pyro damage to Diluc’s normal and charged attacks which gives crazy uptime on elemental reactions. While there are times that Diluc uses normal attacks, especially on large elites, that are hard to stagger, this is heavily dependent on Diluc’s party setup whether you need to switch more to release elemental skills and elemental bursts with other characters.

The stats you would want will be ATK% > Crit Rate% > Crit Damage% > Elemental Mastery

Although these stats vary if you can get a higher Crit Rate%, Crit Damage% will scale a bit higher but it would only be worth it if you can get near the Crit Rate 100% range.

The damage calculation for ATK Power can be seen below

ATK Power = [(Character's Base ATK + Weapon ATK) × (1 + Weapon ATK% bonuses + Artifact ATK% bonuses)] + Artifact ATK flat bonuses
Non-critical Hit = ATK Power × Skill% × Enemy Damage Reduction × DMG Bonus% × (1 - RES%)
Critical Hit DMG = Non-critical Hit × (1 + CRIT DMG%)

Best Artifact Sets for Diluc

Diluc Character Screen

While it is better to look for artifacts with insanely good raw stats instead of bonuses, the Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set will be the best 4-piece bonus you can build for Diluc. You should pay attention to the stats you are sacrificing when you are aiming for a 4-piece set bonus. Since there are 5 artifact slots, you have a little more leeway into building Diluc.

Artifact Set2-Piece Bonus4-Piece Bonus
Berserker
CRIT Rate +12%When HP is below 70%, CRIT Rate increases by an additional 24%.
Crimson Witch of Flames
Pyro DMG Bonus +15%Increases Overloaded and Burning DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using an Elemental Skill increases 2-Piece Set effects by 50% for 10s. Max 3 stacks.
Gladiator’s Finale
ATK +18%If the wielder of this artifact set uses a Sword, Claymore or Polearm, increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%.
Martial Artist
Increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 15%.After using Elemental Skill, increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 25% for 8s.

While the Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set is the best bonus you can get for Diluc, the Berserker artifact set, Gladiator’s Finale artifact set and the Martial Artist artifact set are also viable for Diluc as they all increase his raw damage output as the main damage dealer.

The Berserker artifact set’s 4-piece bonus is not that appealing and you can combine other 2-piece bonuses from different artifact sets as a replacement. To get the 5-star Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set pieces, you can check out this guide here.

Talents and Constellation

Diluc’s talents

Since Diluc’s elemental burst, Dawn, will be used for elemental reactions with your party setups while having a larger area of effect on a 12 second cooldown, it will be more efficient to focus on Dawn rather than Diluc’s elemental skill, Searing Onslaught. Since the materials scale when you upgrade talents on characters, you can alternate between upgrading Dawn and Searing Onslaught with Dawn being the priority.

Diluc’s constellation

For Diluc’s constellation, you will be lucky enough to get a few more dupes for Diluc even if you spend some money on the game. Flowing Flame (4th constellation) and Flaming Sword, Nemesis of Dark (6th and last constellation) will give the highest power spikes in Diluc’s constellation.

Best Way to Get Diluc

The best and only efficient way to get a 5-star character like Diluc is by wishing through the promotional character or rate up banner ongoing. It will cost you Intertwined Fates which are slightly harder to get than Acquiant Fates but they both cost the same in terms of Primogems.

The reason you should pull on the rate up banner even without Diluc being the featured character is that once you reach the end of the pity system which is 90 pulls, you have a 50% chance of getting the promotional character and the other 50% will go to a random 5-star character. This is better because there will be no weapons mixed in the pity system, unlike the standard banner that uses Acquiant Fates.

The pity system resets to 0 when you pull a 5-star weapon in the standard banner which becomes kind of a waste if you do not have any 5-star characters yet.

Conclusion

While the game is still constantly updating, there will be more flexibility for builds to experiment with. The stats you should prioritize might change a little and there are a few more artifact sets that can synchronize better depending on the other characters in your party setup.
