To get to the Forbidden Reach, make sure you’re playing on a level 70 toon and log in. You’ll automatically get a quest called Hidden Legacies which will take you to the Seat of the Aspects and then to a Flight Master, where you’ll be able to then choose to go to the Forbidden Reach. It’s also accessible with a Dragonriding mount.

If you’ve played as a Dracthyr in World of Warcraft, you will have visited the Forbidden Reach during your introduction to the game. If not, this may be an entirely new zone for you.

With the introduction of patch 10.0.7, the Forbidden Reach has now become one of the most important zones in the game. It can be a little confusing to get there at first, though, especially if you’re playing Dragonflight for the first time.

Here’s a quick guide on how to get to the Forbidden Reach in Dragonflight and a few important things to look out for along the way.

Before You Start

Before you begin, you’ll need to make sure that your character is level 70.

If you don’t have a max level character, you won’t be able to get the quest that takes you to the Forbidden Reach.

I’d also recommend making sure you’ve got your Dragonriding mount maxed out, to make travel easier once you reach the zone. It’s quite a rugged zone, with lots of mountains and cliffs, so being able to fly with ease is essential.

How to Get There

If you haven’t logged in since the introduction of patch 10.0.7, you’ll get a quest called ‘Hidden Legacies’ automatically added to your quest log when you log back in.

This quest asks you to speak to the Healing Wings Envoy at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken, which you can access easily with the teleporter found below the Seat.

It’s also possible to fly up with your Dragonriding mount.

Once you get to the Seat of the Aspects, run past Kalecgos and to the green banner on the edge of the Seat. You’ll find the Healing Wings Envoy here.

The Healing Wings Envoy is Kurazidaia and she will speak to you briefly then show you a cutscene bringing you up to speed on Dragonflight lore.

If you’re not keen on the lore, hit ‘escape’ and you’ll be able to skip the cutscene.

Then, you’ll need to head to Aluri, the Flight Master in the city.

Speak to Aluri and select the quest option that takes you to Morqut Village. This is the first zone in the Forbidden Reach that you’ll need to get to.

Make sure to pick up the Flight Master location when you get there, so you can easily return to the Forbidden Reach without using a Hearthstone.

If you’re not keen on taking Flight Master paths, you can also fly there using your Dragonriding mount. I’d advise making sure your mount is maxed out with Glyphs.

If you’re looking to make the most out of your trip to the Forbidden Reach, I’d really recommend using the Flight Master path, though.

Skipping the Hidden Legacies questline means you miss out on a Primalist Cloak, Elemental Overflow, Untapped Forbidden Knowledge, and Valdrakken Accord reputation.

What to Do Next

Once you’re in the Forbidden Reach, you’ll gain access to a wealth of new quests and opportunities to get gear, collectibles, and materials.

I’d suggest keeping an eye out for important raw materials in the Forbidden Reach, like Mining or Herbalism nodes. There are lots of them around, especially in the rocky areas around cliffs that are harder to reach.

It’s possible to farm up a lot of Elemental Overflow in the Forbidden Reach, too. Certain mobs drop this vital resource and there are plenty of quests that reward it, too.
