Black Mamba vs. 25th Anniversary Edition
Since the Kobe Bryant and WNBA Edition are technically the same except for the physical copy’s game cover, we are immediately moving on to the Black Mamba and 25th Anniversary Edition.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of each of the edition’s bonuses.

The difference between both editions is a whopping $49.99 or £39.99. If we look at all the differences, it is a bit minimal. However, there is one big difference; it might matter to some, and others might not even care.
- Full-Season 12-Month NBA League Pass Subscription
- 35K Extra MyTEAM Points
- Cover Star: Ruby “Rookie Card” Kobe Bryant
- Black Mamba MyPLAYER Capsule:
Black Arm Sleeve
Purple Oversized T-Shirt
Yellow T-Shirt
Kobe Player Panel
First of all, the 25th-anniversary edition has the Black Mamba MyPLAYER Capsule. It is a bit odd that the “Black Mamba” edition doesn’t have this one.
Surely, the fans of Kobe himself would find it very confusing if they just bought the Black Mamba edition to honor Kobe and not get these Kobe-exclusive cosmetics.
You’ll get some juicy MyTeam boosts in points and a Ruby Kobe Bryant rookie card.
Here is the biggest kicker. The 25th anniversary edition offers a Full-Season 12-Month NBA League Pass Subscription.
This allows you to watch real-life NBA games on a single account when activated. Twelve months might be a bit of a reach because NBA seasons usually last for 8-9 months, including playoffs and excluding the preseason.
If you are a fan of the NBA and have thought of purchasing the League Pass, you probably already know it costs a lot. In the US, it costs $199.99.
Since the League Pass offers regional pricing, the price will vary wherever you are in the world. Even then, you are getting a very big discount for buying the 25th-anniversary edition if you are planning on buying a League Pass anyway.
VC Price Comparison
Both Black Mamba and 25th Anniversary Editions have 100K VC. To compare the 100K VC bonus to its actual price, we need to look at the store.
Buying VC outright costs:
- 5,000 VC – $1.99
- 15,000 VC – $4.99
- 35,000 VC – $9.99
- 75,000 VC – $19.99
- 200,000 VC – $49.99
- 450,000 VC – $99.99
There isn’t a 100K VC offer, but cutting it between 75,000 and 200,000 would cost around $25+ (since buying a bigger pack gets you some extra VC).
This means that the Black Mamba edition would be worth it if you buy VCs from the shop anyway.
However, the 25th-anniversary edition costs $50 more than the Black Mamba edition for the same amount of VC. If you are going for a MyCareer player and would love to have as much VCs as you can, you should only go for the Black Mamba and buy more VCs from the store.
The extra bonuses from the bundle are a good addition, and you cannot really put a price on them since they can’t be purchased from the shop.
Verdict
For those who plan on playing the game casually, especially those who only play quick play against friends and family, the Kobe Bryant/WNBA edition is the best deal for you.
Players who like to grind games heavily at the start and are willing to shell out some additional cash should get the Black Mamba edition.
You’ll be getting a lot of boosts and VCs to improve your player. If you have played multiple MyCareer modes in the past, you know how crucial VCs are at the start of any MyCareer playthrough.
It gets your player over the top and eventually earns more VCs through your performance.
The 25th-anniversary edition is only for those who would use and enjoy the League Pass subscription. With NBA 2K24 taking flak for introducing a paid battle pass into their $70 game filled with microtransactions, this 25th-anniversary edition is quite generous.
