If you’re a fan of Pet Battles in World of Warcraft, chances are that you’ve had a blast playing through Dragonflight. This expansion added a mountain of cool and cute pets to the game, suitable for both avid collectors and casual battlers alike.
While some of the pets have obvious methods to acquire them, like the wild pets you’ll need for the Dragon Isles Safari achievement, other Battle Pets can be a little tricky to get your hands on. There’s pets like the duck pet Pilot that take a bit of questing, but one particularly tricky Battle Pet that springs to mind is the Blackfeather Nester.

How to Catch the Blackfeather Nester Pet in Dragonflight
To get the Blackfeather Nester pet in Dragonflight, you’ll need to make sure that you have Dragonriding unlocked and that you’re comfortable flying around the map. One of the items you need is not accessible by walking or jumping, so this is essential.
The first thing to do is to head to The Azure Watch zone in the Dragon Isles. If you’re struggling to get to the Dragon Isles, make sure that you’re at least level 58 and check out your main faction city’s transport options to get there.
Once you’ve in The Azure Watch, head to the area shown in the black circle on the screenshot below. You’re aiming for the Northwest of the zone, right by the cliffside.
The thing that you’re looking for is a giant, partially upturned tree that is hollow on the inside. It’s quite hard to miss it even amongst the dense forest, as it sticks out at an angle.
Land on top of the giant tree stump, get off of your Dragonriding mount, and then make your way down into the hollow. Here, you should find a big glob of glowing tree sap.
Click on this, and you’ll get a 5 minute buff. Then, head back up to the top of the tree stump. A stick should have spawned at the top, and you should be able to click on it for the next step of this interaction.
Once you’ve done this, the Blackfeather Nester should fly down from the top of your screen and head towards you. The bird that appears is the Pepper Hammer, which is what the Blackfeather Nester pet is called before you catch it.
It’s not a wild Battle Pet, so you won’t need to take it down with your team in order to capture it. It’s a friendly mob, and you’ll be able to click on it to add it to your inventory.
Then, simply click on the pet in your inventory and you’ll be able to find it in your journal, ready to level up and take into Pet Battles with your team. It’s a great Flying type pet that’s suitable for PVP Pet Battles, due to its rare quality and interesting moves.
The majority of the moves that your new Blackfeather Nester will have access to are decent Flying moves like Lift Off and Slicing Winds, but it has a Beast move and even some Magic type moves like Metabolic Boost and Amplify Magic.
It’s one of the most unique Flying type pets that you can get on the Dragon Isles and it’s worth tracking down. Once you’ve caught it, take a look at some Battle Pet leveling methods to max it out quickly and try adding it to your team for some PVP battles.
