From my time in the collector’s community, I’d say that the Pet Battle community has some of the most dedicated and passionate players in World of Warcraft. It’s a fun, casual side to the game, with an astounding amount of pets to collect.

Dragonflight introduced a heap of new Battle Pets to the game, with some of them completely changing the PVP Pet Battle scene. If you’re a collector, chances are that you’ve spent some time looking through the Pet Journal and wondering how to get your hands on the Dragonflight pets.

To help you fill out your Pet Journal and prepare your team, I’ve put together this guide on how to get every Battle Pet in Dragonflight. This guide exclusively focuses on the pets added in Dragonflight, up to patch 10.0.7 so far.

Here’s how to get every Battle Pet in Dragonflight, organized alphabetically with tips on how to get them.

A

Alvin the Anvil

Players with level 50 in Dragonflight Blacksmithing can make this pet. You can also get the plans and the pet on the Auction House.

Ashenwing

Ashenwing drops from Bonesifter Marwak, with a roughly 4% drop rate.

Bonesifter Marwak is a Rare Elite that can be found North of the Old Weyrn Grounds in the Forbidden Reach, in the mountainous area.

Azure Crystalspine
wow pets crystalspine

This is a wild pet that can be found all over the Azure Span.

Azure Frillfish

To get the Azure Frillfish, you’ll need to get Renown level 5 with the Dragonscale Expedition.

Once you’ve achieved this Renown level, you’ll be able to find the item A Guide to Rare Fish when you dig up any Disturbed Dirt while exploring The Dragon Isles. To dig up Disturbed Dirt, you’ll need to buy a Small Expedition Shovel from Cataloger Jakes. You can find Jakes at the Dragonscale Base Camp, in The Waking Shores.

The Disturbed Dirt works in a similar way to Herbalism or Mining nodes, so you’ll see them vanish if another player beats you to it and digs it up before you. They have a respawn timer that appears to circulate them between the different zones.

If you don’t feel like grinding Renown with the Dragonscale Expedition, there is also a small chance of looting A Guide to Rare Fish from an Expedition Scout’s Pack. I’d suggest taking the first route, though, as it’s less reliant on random chance.

Once you have A Guide to Rare Fish, you’ll be able to use it and see a treasure chest icon for the Bubble Drifter treasure appear on your map. This can be found North of the Obsidian Bulwark in The Waking Shores, right by the edge of the map.

There will be a Fragrant Plant near the treasure chest icon, which you’ll need to interact with to get the Fragrant Plant Scent buff. This buff lasts 5 minutes and it will attract the Bubble Drifter to you. You’ll be able to interact with the Bubble Drifter and get the Azure Frillfish pet.

Getting this pet is a requirement for the Treasures of The Waking Shores achievement.

B

Backswimmer Timbertooth

You can purchase the Backswimmer Timbertooth from Jiq in The Azure Span for 150 Dragon Isles Supplies, 5 Tallstrider Sinew, and 1 Runed Writhebark. You’ll need to be Renown level 9 with the Iskaara Tuskarr for this.

You can also get this Battle Pet from the quest Cute and Cuddly, which comes from Jiq in The Azure Span.

Bakar Companion

There is a chance of getting this pet from the first 3 Centaur Hunts each week.

Berylmane

Berylmane can be found in the Zskera Vaults, dropping from a number of different chest types and containers.

To access the Zskera Vaults, you’ll need to unlock world quests in the area and also find enough Zskera Vault keys.

To get the Blackfeather Nester pet, you’ll need to find a specific upturned tree in The Azure Span, find the tree sap at the base, and click on a stick at the top of the tree. This will help you summon the Battle Pet to your location so you can loot it.

Black Skitterbug

You can purchase this Battle Pet from the aforementioned NPC Cataloger Jakes in the Dragonscale Base Camp or from Granpap Whiskers in the same area. A Black Skitterbug costs 3 Iridescent Plume, 5 Tallstrider Sinew, and 150 Dragon Isles Supplies.

You can also get this pet from the quest The Basecamp ‘Pets’ from Granpap Whiskers, which will save you the extra resources if needed.

Black Slyvern Pup

This is a wild Battle Pet that you can get in the Ohn’ahran Plains, North of Maruukai.

Blaze Spirit

To get this Battle Pet, you’ll need to have a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler and Empty Soul Cages.

The Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler comes from players with Dragon Isles Engineering level 50, and Empty Soul Cages can be crafted by folk with Dragon Isles Jewelcrafting level 40. The Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler binds on use, and the Empty Soul Cages can stack up to 1000.

Once you’ve got the necessary items, head to the East of The Azure Span and find an Elite Fire Elemental. You’ll need to make sure that the Fire Elemental dies while you’re using the Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler on it.

This will reward you with an Encaged Fiery Soul. You’ll get the option to immediately crush it, which will reward you with crafting reagents, or to leave it for 15 minutes which will give you a Docile Fiery Soul. This Docile Fiery Soul has the chance of rewarding you with the Blaze Spirit.

Blue Dasher

This is a wild Battle Pet that you can catch in Thaldraszus, to the South of Valdrakken, on the island to the North of Algeth’ar Academy, and occasionally to the West of Algeth’ar Academy.

Brightfeather

Much like the Berylmane pet, this Battle Pet can be found in the Zskera Vaults in the Forbidden Reach.

You’ll need to unlock world quests in the area and find plenty of Zskera Vault keys to unlock a Vault.

Brightfeather drops from a number of different chests and strongboxes, but the most common seem to be Hardened Strongboxes and Hardened Chests.

Buckie

You can purchase Buckie from Turik, who can be found on Morqut Islet in the Forbidden Reach.

Buckie costs 25,000 Elemental Overflow.

Bugbiter Tortoise

To get the Bugbiter Tortoise you’ll need to wait for the Brightblade’s Bones World Quest to be active.

You’ll need to track down a Petrified Dragon Egg and an Eroded Fossil in order to get the Bugbiter Tortoise. These items can be found in The Waking Shores, with the majority of the Petrified Dragon Eggs being found in caves in the Southwestern areas of the zone, and the Eroded Fossils being found near the base of waterfalls.

Once you have both items, you’ll need to find Cymre Brightblade and give them to her. She can be found far West of the Dragonscale Base Camp, essentially between The Waking Shores and Ohn’ahran Plains on the map. Cymre will give you the pet.

Bunbo

Bunbo can be obtained from the quest Primordial Answers, which comes from Earthcaller Yevaa on Morqut Islet. You’ll need to be level 70 for this quest.

C

Chalkshell Turtle

To get a Chalkshell Turtle, you’ll need to head to The Azure Span and speak to Lani who can be found to the South of Brackenhide Hollow. This NPC will give you Turtle Bait, which will help you find Chalkshell Turtles in the same area.

Chestnut

To get Chestnut, you’ll need to find the Acorn Harvester treasure in between Tyrhold and Valdrakken. The Acorn Harvester is a small squirrel (the same model as Chestnut) that can be a little tricky to see.

When you find the Acorn Harvester, there will be an acorn nearby that you’ll need to click on. This will give you a buff and you’ll then be able to interact with a mysterious flower nearby. This will summon a squirrel nearby, which you’ll be able to click on. Doing so will reward you with the Chestnut pet.

Chip

Yries Lightfingers sells this pet and is in the Obsidian Throne. You’ll need 1 Rock of Aegis, 2 Pre-Sentient Rock Clusters, and 3 Element-Infused Bloods to buy it.

You can get the Crimson Proto-Whelp in a few different ways.

One way to get the Crimson Proto-Whelp in World of Warcraft is to complete the quest A Collection of Creatures, which you can get from Groundskeeper Kama in Valdrakken.

The aforementioned quest gives you the choice of two different pets, so if you chose the other option, you can also purchase the Crimson Proto-Whelp from Groundskeeper Kama for 3 Primal Bear Spines, 1 Large Study Femur, and 150 Dragon Isles Supplies.

You can also purchase the Crimson Proto-Whelp from Unatos in Valdrakken for the same price, but you’ll need to be Renown level 18 with the Valdrakken Accord to do so.

Cubbly

Cubbly is a reward for finding a treasure called the Strange Bear Cub, which is located in Thaldraszus in a cave in Eon’s Fringe. There’s a time magic effect in the area which will inflict a DoT called Temporal Shock that deals Nature damage and applies a slow debuff.

In order to get into the cave, you’ll need to have leveled Mining as you’ll need to dig through a Rock Wall.

You can also use an item like Expedition Explosives (a reward for completing the quest Demolitions Access, associated with hitting Renown level 20 with the Dragonscale Expedition) to break the wall, or try dying near the Rock Wall and respawning inside the cave.

Once you’re inside, you’ll be able to interact with the Strange Bear Cub and add Cubbly to your collection of Battle Pets.

D

Dusky Timbertooth

This is a wild Battle Pet that can be found in the Ohn’ahran Plains, just North of Forkriver Crossing near the water.

You’ll need to find an Earthshatter Elemental, which can be found in The Waking Shores to the West of Scalecracker Keep.

Once you’ve found an Earthshatter Elemental, you will need to make sure that you use the Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler on it as you kill it in order to trap the soul. If you do this correctly, you’ll get the Encaged Earthen Soul.

You will need to make sure that you have leveled Cooking on your character in order to complete this quest. To finish A Dryadic Remedy you’ll need to complete these steps:

  • Head to the Little Scales Daycare in Valdrakken and loot the barrel behind the bookshelf.
  • Give the Taty Hatchling’s Treat to the Despondent Duckling.
  • Find Thalendra in The Emerald Enclave.

You’ll be able to turn in the quest to Thalendra, which will reward you with the title Honorary Dryad. At the time of writing, this title appears to be slightly bugged and it can vanish, but you need it to get the Snowclaw Club so I’d recommend doing this all in one go. Logging off in between steps might cause some issues for your run.

Once you’ve got the Honorary Dryad title, you’ll need to get a Honey Snack and 3 Hornswog Hunks. These can be found on the Auction House. You can also get Hornswog Hunks from mobs around the different areas of The Dragon Isles, and Honey Snacks from Dealer Vexil, who is part of the Worldbreakers faction.

After you’ve got these items, make sure that you have the Honorary Dryad title equipped and head to The Azure Span to find the Snowclaw Cub.

You can technically get this pet without the Honorary Dryad title, but I would recommend getting it as it prevents the Snowclaw Cub from fleeing when you get too close to it.

You’ll need to go Southeast of Theron’s Watch in The Azure Span, where you’ll find the Primal Bear Cub (this is the name of the Snowclaw Cub before you catch it) and you will be able to interact with it when you click on it.

Feeding the Primal Bear Cub the Hornswog Hunks and Honey Snacks will automatically add the Snowclaw Cub to your inventory.

Snowlemental

This is a wild Battle Pet that you can catch in a few different locations. You can catch a Snowlemental South of the Ruby Lifepools in The Waking Shores, and you can catch one in any of the snowy areas in The Azure Span.

Snowy Treeflitter

This is a somewhat rare wild Battle Pet that can be found in The Azure Span, to the West of Vakthros in the snowy areas.

Sophic Amalgamation

This Battle Pet comes from players with level 25 in Dragon Isles Enchanting, with 10 Knowledge Points in the Insight of the Blue specialization and 20 Knowledge Points in the Primal Extraction sub-specialization.

Spyragos

To get the Spyragos Battle Pet, you’ll need to complete the quest A Dragon’s Day Off in The Waking Shores. Before you can start, you’ll need to make sure that you have completed The Waking Shores campaign, at least up to the Wrathion’s Gambit stage.

This quest starts with Vazallia, to the West of the Obsidian Citadel, and you’ll need to gather these items in order to finish the quest:

  • Flameslinger Rum. Before you can purchase this item, you’ll need to complete Ingot’s quest line to access the correct vendor. This quest line starts with the quests A Cultist’s Misgivings and Punching Up. Once you’ve done the correct quests, you’ll be able to buy the Flameslinger Rum from Dealer Vexil to the East of the Obsidian Citadel.
  • Riptide Brew. This can be found in a barrel in a cave to the South of the Ruby Lifepools. If you accidentally consume it or destroy it, the respawn timer for the barrel seems to be roughly an hour.
  • Popfizz Punch. This item can be found in a green bottle in a shipwreck off the coast far North of the Obsidian Citadel.
  • Slam Bam Swill. This drink can be found in a treehouse to the West of Scalecracker Keep, in a white jug with a red ribbon round it.
  • Stealthy Eleven Port. You can get this drink from two different vendors. You can buy it from Outfitter Tipech in the Obsidian Citadel, or from Provisioner Ojito in between the Obsidian Citadel and Obsidian Bulwark.
  • Happy Trigger Sour. This item comes from Firstmate Kaleson near Obsidian Bulwark.
  • Whirlwind Wine. For this, you’ll need to purchase a Kul Tiran Red from Kora Fullsails near Obsidian Bulwark. You’ll need to then head South of Wingrest Embassy and throw the Kul Tiran Red at a Rampaging Wind elemental in order to create a Whirlwind Wine.

It’s worth checking the Auction House if you’re struggling to collect any of the drinks for this quest. Once you’ve collected all the necessary items, you’ll be able to turn in the quest and get the Spyragos Battle Pet.

To get this item, you’ll need to be at least Renown level 7 with the Maruuk Centaur and you’ll need to be level 70 as well. When you meet these requirements, you will be able to get the quest Good at Doings, Not Understandings in Maruukai from Quartermaster Housing. This is a wild Battle Pet that can be found in The Waking Shores, specifically in the caves and rocky areas far North of Obsidian Bulwark on the map.

To get a Tide Spirit pet, you will need a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler and some Empty Soul Cages. The Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler comes from players with Dragon Isles Engineering level 50, and the Empty Soul Cages come from players with Dragon Isles Jewelcrafting level 40.

You’ll need to find a Force of the Springs, which is an elemental mob that can be found near Ohn’iri Springs in Ohn’ahran Plains.

To get an Encaged Frosty Soul, you will need to make sure that you use the Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler on the Force of the Springs as it dies. If you time it right, you’ll get the Encaged Frosty Soul.

You can squash the Encaged Frosty Soul as soon as you get it to get crafting reagents, or wait 15 minutes to get a Docile Frosty Soul. There is the chance of getting a Tide Spirit from the Docile Frosty Soul, but it’s not guaranteed.

Tiny Timbertooth

To reduce the difficulty of this battle, defeat the nearby wild pets. This will reduce the difficulty rank of the fight without removing your chance to get the Tremblor pet.

Troubled Tome

You can buy this Battle Pet from Patchu in The Azure Span for 200 Polished Pet Charms. Patchu can be found South of Brackenhide Hollow.

Trunkalumpf

This is a wild Battle Pet that can be found in the Ohn’ahran Plains, with spawn locations in the center of the map and Northeast areas of the zone.

  • Dig up the kitchen and loot the item.

Once you have it in your bag, it’ll hatch after 3 days and you’ll be able to loot the Viridescent Duck.

Volatile Self-Driving Toolbox

This is a reward from the Recruit-A-Friend promotion.

Vortex

Much like the Tremblor pet, you get the Vortex pet by defeating a world quest boss pet.

You’ll need to wait for the Cutting Wind world quest to go live, then defeat Vortex in a pet battle. You can reduce the difficulty of the fight by defeating nearby wild pets.

Vorquin Runt

This is a wild Battle Pet that you can find in a few different locations.

You can find them in the Northeast areas of The Waking Shores that do not have lava, in between The Waking Shores and Ohn’ahran Plains to the South of the Obsidian Citadel, and in between Tyrhold and Valdrakken in Thaldraszus.

W

Wakyn

You can defeat the nearby wild pets in order to reduce the difficulty of the fight.

Woodbiter Piculet

This wild Battle Pet has a few spawn locations. It can be found near Camp Nowhere in The Azure Span and it can be found near Maruukai in Ohn’ahran Plains too.

Y

Yipper

You can get Yipper from a quest called The Great Shokhari.

This quest is available from the NPC Zon’Wogi near Brackenhide Hollow in The Azure Span, and requires you to kill a mob called Sky Vixen Shokari. Once you do this and return to Zon’Wogi, you’ll get the Yipper Battle Pet.

What to Do Next

Once you’ve caught your ideal team, take a look at some of the speed leveling methods that exist in the Battle Pet community and pick one that works for you.

While leveling Battle Pets can seem like a grind, it’s possible to get a pet from level 1 to 25 in 15 minutes or less if you pick a good route and prepare properly.

If there’s a Battle Pet you want but can’t seem to catch, drum up some gold and head to your nearest Auction House. You can’t purchase every Battle Pet in Dragonflight on the Auction House but a good portion of them are available for purchase so it’s worth checking.
