The Hidden One’s job comes with risks, and one of them is represented by the Notoriety System.

This is how wanted you are for your crimes, working very much like a wanted level. The greater your Notoriety Level, the more guards will be looking for you.

Keeping it low means that you can get away with messing around a bit easier, and it also diminishes the consequences of your actions in general.

Here’s how to reduce Notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

How Notoriety Works

Basically, the more you commit crimes and bring attention to yourself, the greater your Notoriety Level gets. The greater your Notoriety, the more you are hunted by guards.

There are three different levels, and each comes with its own set of consequences that make the game much more challenging for you overall.

Level 1 of Notoriety

You don’t have guards actively looking for you yet, but people on the street start recognizing you. They might shout for guards, which will lead to trouble.

Fortunately, you can still run and hide since the danger is not immediate, but it is still bad to be recognized on the streets.

Level 2 of Notoriety

This is when things start to get really dangerous. You aren’t just recognized by civilians; archers on rooftops and guards on the streets are also ready to take you down.

That, of course, is on top of having random people on the street recognizing you and calling the guards on you.

With more guards looking for you and with archers on rooftops, being recognized by a civilian becomes way more dangerous than before.

Level 3 of Notoriety

At this point, things are way more complicated.

Guards will be actively patrolling the streets and looking for you.

You will be hunted and chased by standard and elite guards, who are much more troubling than those looking for you before.

This, of course, happens on top of archers on rooftops and civilians ready to call for guards when they spot you.

At this level, things become way more complicated to handle, and you might consider doing what you can to decrease your Notoriety Level.

How to Reduce Notoriety and Remain Hidden

As soon as people become aware of your presence, you should start working on countering the effects of a higher level of Notoriety.

There are quite a few ways to make that happen:

Remove Wanted Posters

You will find them from time to time on the walls.

They are not always easy to find and don’t show up on your map, so you might want to pay attention when roaming around.

That said, wanted posters show up on your compass, which you can use to locate them and tear them down. With a bit of work and a bit of exploration, you will end up finding the posters.

Each poster removed reduces your current Notoriety Level by 1.

If you want to remain hidden at all times, start looking for them as soon as you gain a level of Notoriety.

Bribe the Munadi

This is a very effective way to make your Notoriety disappear, but it will cost you.

Check your map for the location of a Munadi. You can bribe them with 1 Power Token. This will cause all your Notoriety Levels to disappear.

Note that Power Tokens are not easy to come by. They are a rare currency you only get by completing certain side quests.

Considering you won’t get many of these tokens, it might be better for you to look for wanted posters before considering spending a Power Token.

However, at level 3, people start gathering around wanted posters, making it much harder to remove them.

That’s when it might be time to consider bribing a Munadi.

Defeat the Elite Guard

This is the least optimal way of handling the situation, but it sure works.

When your Notoriety Level reaches 3, an elite guard will be hunting for you, as mentioned above.

This elite guard has a lot of health, uses quick attacks that are easy to parry, and also uses many different tools.

For instance, they can throw darts at you and drink potions in the middle of the fight.

This is a significantly difficult battle when compared to fighting all the other guards, and the odds are not in your favor.

However, defeating this guard will remove all your Notoriety, so it might sometimes be worth it.

Final Thoughts

Managing your Notoriety Level in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is crucial for a smoother gaming experience.

The risks associated with a high Notoriety Level are more than a mere nuisance.

From being recognized by civilians to being hunted down by guards and elite guards, a high Notoriety can make the game considerably more challenging.

Several strategies are at your disposal to maintain a low profile and reduce your Notoriety Level.

Keep an eye out for wanted posters scattered throughout the city, and tear them down as you come across them.

Use power tokens when your Notoriety reaches level 3, and the Elite Guard is too much for you to Handle.

If you decide to fight the Elite Guard, remember that this battle is exceptionally challenging and should be treated as a last resort option.

In the end, mastering the art of reducing Notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is crucial in staying hidden, evading guards, and successfully navigating Baghdad.
