Did you pick up the sword after you defeated Jega ‘Rdomnai as I said in the how to locate and rescue the pilot in Halo Infinite guide? If you did, well done. If not, your battle against Escharum will be a little tougher than it needs to be.

The sword is super powerful and deals a great deal of damage, even after you exhaust it. More than any weapon that you can find in the room where you’ll have to fight Escharum.

Without further ado, let me show you how to beat Escharum in Halo Infinite.

Fighting Escharum

If you’ve picked up the sword from Jega ‘Rdomnai, I’d recommend you to attack Escharum right away. After a few hits, he’ll start running away and go to the other side of the room where he will activate his shield.

Do note that you cannot shoot or deal damage at the boss while his shield is activated as that will only hurt the pilot – your dear friend – Echo 216.

In order to take his shield away, break the yellow fuse in the room. Do note that there are four fuses in total. After you deal a fair amount of damage to Escharum each time, he will run back to the same spot and activate his shield again and again until you break all four.

Once the last of his fuses are broken, he will transform and equip himself with a very large staff that deals a lot of damage. So, do pick up a weapon and shoot Escharum from distance.

I’d even suggest that you use your grappling hook to create more distance from the boss so you don’t allow him to deal any damage to you during the fight.

From then on, eliminating him is a fairly easy task, as long as you don’t get near him and keep your distance.

Once he’s down, make sure to take his staff. You’ll need it for beating the next and final boss in Halo Infinite – Harbinger. Here’s a guide on how to beat Harbinger in case you want to take her down from the get-go.

Tips for Fighting Escharum

The first tip I can give you is to use your grappling hook to move around. You won’t be able to just take Escahrum head-on. He’s very tough so do move around a lot when you’re low on health. Luckily, he’s pretty slow so you will have plenty of time to heal up.

My second tip is not to use any crates or boxes nearby to take cover. Escharum likes to throw them around and if you’re low on health, you can get eliminated by one of those quite easily. As you can see in the picture above, that happened to me so I definitely learned my lesson.

My third and last tip would be equipping yourself with a powerful weapon that you can use from distance. With that, you’ll not only be able to shoot out each of the four fuses that power up his shield but also deal damage from a distance.
