There are lots of collectibles and unique appearances to pick up in Hogwarts Legacy. Whether you want to look like a regular student, an evil wizard, or a herbalist who lives in the Forbidden Forest, there’s bound to be a perfect look for you.
The customization options even apply to your wand. While you can’t change elements like the core or flexibility, you can collect lots of interesting wand handles.
42 of them, to be exact.
To help you pad out your cosmetic collection, here’s a complete, alphabetical guide on how to get every wand handle in Hogwarts Legacy.
It’s important to note that the wand handles obtained from looting chests are randomly assigned to spawn locations. The locations don’t change, but you may get different handles from different chests to me.
Arrow – Black
To get the Black Arrow wand handle, you’ll need to complete the side quest Brother’s Keeper.
This quest starts in Upper Hogsfield and requires you to win a decently tricky fight.
It’s worth noting that this quest is meant to be for level 17 players and above. I’m playing on story mode so the fight was a lot easier for me, but I managed to complete the fight playing on a level 15 character with average gear.
If you want to breeze past this quest and don’t feel like leveling up quickly, you can adjust your difficulty level before accepting it. You can change this back at any time in the game or if you change your mind while doing the quest.
Arrow – Brown
I found this wand handle by going through a fireplace in a locked room in the Faculty Tower and following the path.
To go through a fireplace, you’ll need to cast Glacius on it.
If you don’t have the Glacius spell yet, you’ll need to make sure that you have completed Madam Kogawa’s first assignment.
Once you head through the fireplace, you’ll be able to find the chest easily.

Avian – Grey
This wand handle is a reward for completing the ‘Flying Off the Shelves’ quest.
This is a simple quest where you’ll need to use Accio on 5 flying books in the Hogwarts library.
To start the quest, find Cressida Blume and speak to her. She’ll ask you for help regaining her books after a failed spell.
Once you’ve returned the books to Cressida, you’ll get the wand handle automatically.
Basketweave – Black

Basketweave – Blue
I found this wand handle in a chest above the Charms classroom. You’ll need to unlock a door and go up a spiral staircase to get to it.

I found this wand handle by solving the puzzle on the Viaduct bridge. There’s a secret tunnel underneath the bridge, blocked off by a cover that moves when you solve the puzzle.
This puzzle features 4 braziers with a rotating base. There is a numeral on each one, and a shape as well.
The nearby cover shows the shapes and correct numerals to match together.
Light each brazier with a fire spell and match up the correct numbers. The cover will slide open and you’ll be able to go down into the secret tunnel to get your wand handle.

This wand handle spawned for me in an unlocked chest, in Professor Fig’s classroom.

This frog statue spat me out in a secret room which contained the chest with the Blue Checkerboard wand handle inside.
Checkerboard – Brown
You can get this wand handle by completing the ‘Absconder Encounter’.
This quest comes from Edgar Adley in Aranshire, and it involves fighting a lot of spiders. The quest finishes up with a final boss, and you’ll need to retrieve a lost pocket watch from the spider’s cave before heading back.
It’s not too hard of a fight, but I’d recommend using your fire spells to blow up the spiders and make the fights easier on yourself.

I found this wand handle in a chest near The Great Hall.
Column – Beige
You can get this wand handle by completing the ‘E-vase-ive Manoeuvre’ quest.

Once this is finished, head back to Althea and you’ll get the Beige Column wand handle.
Column – Dark Brown
I found this wand handle in a chest in the locked room near the Headmaster’s Office.
To get into this room, you’ll need to get the Key of Admittance.

The chest is a little hard to see at first, as it’s behind a wooden partition that hides it when you first enter the house.
Orbicular – Gold
I found this wand handle in a chest in a hut near Feldcroft.
Orbicular – Violet
You can get this wand handle by completing the ‘Gobs of Gobstones’ quest.
To get this quest, you’ll need to head to the Defence Against the Dark Arts tower and speak to Zenobia. She’ll ask you for help tracking down 6 Gobstones.
They’re relatively easy to find, as you can track each location on your map.
Once you have all 6 Gobstones, head back to Zenobia and you will get the Violet Orbicular wand handle as a reward.

Head to the Bell Tower courtyard, and go up the stairs until you reach the choir practice room.

As mentioned earlier, you’ll need to have completed the relevant main quests in order to access this area of the castle.

To access this zone for the first time, you’ll need to have the quest ‘The Hunt for the Missing Pages’ which involves getting rotten roast beef from the kitchen for Nearly Headless Nick.
Shell – Honey Brown
I found this wand handle by solving the Clock Tower puzzle.
For this quest, you’ll need the Arresto Momentum spell. To get this spell, you’ll need to complete Madam Kogawa’s second assignment.
Once you have the spell, head to the Clock Tower and look at the symbols on the swinging clock. Each symbol corresponds with a room in the immediate area, and if you use Arresto Momentum on the pendulum as it goes over the right symbol, it will let you into the room.
This wand handle is inside the room that corresponds with the third symbol, which is up a few flights of stairs.
Shell – Metallic
I found this wand handle in a chest inside a house in Cragcroft.

Swirl – Dark Grey
I found this wand handle by heading to the Irondale zone and looking for the nearby waterfall and water wheel in the cliffs.
There’s a small cavern at the base of the cliffs where you’ll find the chest with a wand handle inside it. It’s easiest to fly here.
Swirl – Lilac
I found the Lilac Swirl wand handle in a chest behind Agnes Coffey’s stall, in Bainburgh.
What to Do After Completing Your Collection
By the time you’ve finished collecting every wand handle in the game, chances are that you will have progressed quite far in the main story.
Why not go back a bit and check out some of the side quests and puzzles you might have missed? Some of these side quests (including Like a Moth to a Frame) will help you to solve other puzzles in the world and get more rewards.
When you’ve picked out which wand handle you want to use, you could change your outfit to match it for a cohesive look.
If needed, you can even change the appearance of items so you don’t lose any stats.
