Running around capturing Pokémon is a lot of fun, but you’ll need money to buy Poké Balls, healing items, TMs, and more if you want to finish Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Although you might make some money just by playing the main story, there is a good chance you will eventually find yourself in need of a better Poké Ball that you find too expensive. There are only so many Pokémon trainers to battle for money in the game, too.

However, there are more effective ways to get League Points and Poké Dollars than looking for bug catchers. Here’s how to earn money quickly in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

How to Make Money Quickly

In Pokémon, you get Poké Dollars usually by selling items or defeating Pokémon trainers. You can also get League Points by defeating Pokémon in the wild.

These methods are not the most efficient when it comes to gathering Poké Dollars.

There is a limited number of Pokémon trainers that will challenge you when you are exploring Paldea. Once you have defeated all of them, money will become harder to gather. When you start struggling to buy Poké Balls, selling items usually seems like a good idea.

That said, there are some items that are good to sell and others that aren’t so great. On top of that, there are other ways to quickly gather enough money to buy what you need.

Let’s go over each of them.

Send Your Pokémon to Fight Auto-Battles

Auto Battle

This works best at lower levels. Find an area where many Pokémon are vulnerable to attacks that belong to your Pokémon’s type.

Note that it doesn’t matter what attacks your Pokémon has. Your Pokémon’s type is what counts, and the damage done will relate to the strengths and weaknesses of your type.

For instance, I like going to a beach or river so I can use my Grass Type Pokémon to beat all Water Types I can find.

This process will give you some league points, experience, and items.

This is not the most effective way to do it, but you need to level up fast in order to be able to make money quickly. Higher-level Pokémon can fight in raids with more stars.

The most difficult raids are also the ones that provide better items, which takes us to the next method to make money in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Fight in Tera Raids and Sell the Items

Tera D 1

I just mentioned that this might not be the most efficient way to gather money in Pokémon, but it still works at lower levels.

Participate in Tera Raids. Once you defeat the Terastallized Pokémon, you will get a bunch of items as a reward. Among your rewards, you might see some Tera Shards and candy. Those items can be sold for a decent amount of money.

So, when you take part in a Tera Raid, always check if you got any items that you don’t plan on using and sell them for Poké Dollars.

If you take part in 5 Star Tera Raids, there is a good chance you will get valuable items like Nuggets and Pearls.

If you include the total of items sold after a raid, you will get an average of a 5,000 Poké Dollars profit each time you beat a Tera Raid. Since these raids take about three minutes, with some dedication and a bit of luck, you can grind 50,000 in half an hour.

Pick Up Items in the Wild

Item Wild

This might sound weird since you won’t normally find too many items around the map, but there is a way to make it work — you just have to know where to look for them.

Hop on Koraidon or Miraidon and ride through the desert or rocky areas. Many valuable items pop up in the Asado Desert. Just by roaming around, you can find several things you can sell for a decent amount of money.

For instance, you can find Soft Sand, Sun Stones, Super Potions, superior Poké Balls such as Ultra Balls, many different TMs, X Speed, and more.

The Northern Ruins often have Rare Candies. Up North, you can also find Max Elixirs, HP Up, Super Potions, and many other things.

It is quite surprising how many high-quality items you are able to find in the desert with a quick sweep. Not only that, many of them are items you won’t be using and can be sold for a decent amount of Poké Dollars.

Potions and Max Elixirs can help you get a decent amount of Poké Dollars by selling them since most players won’t be using them when their Pokémon are at a high level. The late game doesn’t demand such items, but you’ll need to spend money on other things.

Use Make it Rain and Pay Day

Make it Rain is a new attack that Generation IX introduced. It is a Steel attack and is Gholdengo’s signature move.

In the game, the attack’s description says that “the user attacks by throwing out a mass of coins. This also lowers the user’s Sp. Atk stat. Money is earned after the battle.”

Since Make it Rain lowers the user’s Special Attack as it inflicts damage, you might want to have a secondary attack that doesn’t use your Sp. Atk stat. That said, you won’t be using this attack for the damage anyway, so you should be ok. All that we are looking for is extra cash.

When used in battle with multiple opponents, Make it Rain targets all adjacent opponents. Once this move hits the target, it’ll scatter coins all over the ground.

If you win the battle after using this attack, you can pick up all the scattered coins to get some extra cash after the fight is over.

Pay Day is a more accessible attack that allows you to make money in Pokémon Violet & Scarlet.

The move is available for Meowth at level 12, including all types of Meowth (Steel, Dark, and Normal) and is also learned at level 12 by Normal Type Persian, Dark Type Persian, and Perrserker.

Pay Day is an attack in which your Pokémon hurls coins at the target to inflict damage. Although you are throwing money at your opponent, this attack also makes you earn extra money after the battle.

The Pay Day attack combined with an Amulet Coin is a pretty good way to significantly increase the amount of money made in each battle.

Use the Amulet Coin

Amulet Coin

The Amulet Coin is an item that your Pokémon is supposed to hold. As a held item, the Amulet coin will double any prize money received as long as the holder joins the battle at least once.

In order to find the amulet Coin, you must go to Medali, the town where you change a Pokémon’s Tera Type, and find its Pokémon Center.

There always is a Pokémon League representative near Pokémon centers. They always grant you an item if you defeat a number of Pokémon trainers in the surrounding areas of the Pokémon center where they’re standing.

In the case of Medali, talk to the Pokémon League representative to know how many Pokémon trainers you must defeat.

Once you know the number, roam around, defeat the trainers, and return to Medali’s Pokémon Center.

Finally, talk again to the Pokémon League Representative. He will give you the Amulet Coin as a reward.

Sell All Your Unused Stuff

Unused Stuff

Although I did say that you should be gathering and selling items, this advice is a bit different.

I’m not saying to go on raids or to the Asado Desert, gather items, and then sell. I’m saying, check your bag for items you’ve hoarded that you are not using.

Those items are the ones you should be selling when you need some instant cash.

Items like Potions, Ethers, and even Normal Tera Shards — unless you want a Pokémon with a Normal Tera Type. All these items will be in your backpack when they could be used to do something else.

Check also the items that drop from Pokémon you battle in the wild. Especially when you send out a Pokémon to fight by itself in auto-battles when trying to level up fast.

Use a Turbo Controller

Some folk may view this as cheating, but you can actually get money in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet while sleeping.

However, you need a turbo controller to make that happen. Besides the turbo controller, you have to go to the Academy and sign up for the Academy Ace Tournament.

Then, place yourself right in front of the character you interact with to participate in the Academy Ace Tournament. When there, save the game.

The other thing that you will need is a powerful Pokémon that can go through all your adversaries by spamming a single attack.

This is when you might need a powerful attack such as Waterfall or Hyper Beam that will work on most enemies and deal decent damage. Note that a good attack is not all you need, since a Pokémon’s stats and ability are also important to make this tactic possible.

Check all Pokémon and come up with your own strategy, but make sure your Pokémon is very strong, with attacks that can deal with multiple types.

Finally, you must go in with a single Pokémon. If you do that, the game won’t ask if you want to use another Pokémon when you win a battle. You don’t want to use a different Pokémon, which will stop your progress while you are not looking.

With all that out of the way, it’s time to get some Poké Dollars. Turn on the turbo mode and hit the confirm button to start the Academy Ace Tournament.

If your Pokémon is powerful enough, it will win every single battle, and you will be back where the tournament started.

Remember, your turbo will be on. For that reason, you will automatically sign up for another Academy Ace Tournament.

Note that if your Pokémon can beat all trainers alone once, it will do it as many times as you let it happen. By the time you wake up or return from work, you will have won many tournaments, making you rich in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

What to Do Next

Now that you know how to fill up your wallet in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, you’ll be able to check out all the shops in the game and get your hands on as many collectible and cosmetic items as you like. You can get new phone cases to customize your Rotom Phone or even outfits to personalize your character.

You’ll also be able to buy more ingredients for higher quality sandwiches, meaning you can buff your Pokemon, breed new Pokemon, and perform better in battles. Having lots of money in Pokemon isn’t the be all and end all of the game but it can certainly improve how you perform.
