How to Get Kingambit in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Kingambit is one of the newest special evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. You might be wondering where you can get this awesome Pokemon after battling a particular trainer (spoiler-free), but it can be a bit hard.

Although, you can technically get Kingambit without even beating the 1st gym. It does not mean that it would be easy.

There is more than one way to get a Kingambit. We will show you how to get Kingambit in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet in the easiest way possible.

What is Kingambit?

Kingambit is the 2nd and last evolution of Pawniard. Pawniard – Bisharp – Kingambit.

It is a dark and steel type Pokemon with insanely high HP, Attack, and Defense. It is weak against special attacks and weak at dealing special attacks. It is very slow, but it is extremely beefy.

Since it is a dark and steel Pokemon, it is strong against one of the most popular types in Pokemon, Fairy.

Most fairy type Pokemon have a low physical defense, and Kingambit will make quick work of them.

How to Get Kingambit

Since Kingambit evolves from Bisharp, who evolves from Pawniard, you will need one or the other.

If you have a Pawniard, it is as easy as leveling it up until it evolves into Bisharp.

If you already have a Bisharp, this is where it gets tricky. Before we get to this special evolution, let’s first catch a Pawniard or a Bisharp.

The perfect place to get a Bisharp would be in North Province Area Two. North Province Area Two is pretty big, so you need to go specifically to the bamboo forest.

The area is filled with Pokemon, such as Scythers, Bisharps, and a lot more, but Bisharps are very prevalent in the area. While other places spawn Pawniards and Bisharps as well, here is why it is still best to go here.

How to Evolve Bisharp to Kingambit

Once you have a Bisharp, here is the way to evolve it into a Kingambit.

In the same area above (North Province Area Two – Bamboo Forest), you will be looking for more Bisharps.

However, the Bisharps we are looking for will be the ones in a pack. If you have noticed it from playing, some Pokemon spawns in the overworld are surrounded by weaker evolutions of themselves.

These are the ‘packs’ you will be looking for in the Bamboo Forest. You need to look for a Bisharp pack surrounded by Pawniards.

Once you find one, you need to battle it. Do not use quick battle. Once in a battle, you need Bisharp to finish the other Bisharp off.

Since your attacks will probably be weak against Bisharp since you are also using Bisharp, you can use another Pokemon to damage the Bisharp and switch to your Bisharp to finish it off.

The only requirement is finishing off the Bisharp (from a pack spawn) with your own Bisharp.

You need to do this (finish off Bisharp from a pack) a total of three times to evolve Bisharp to Kingambit.

After beating all three Bisharps, you just need to level up your Bisharp, and it will start to evolve into a Kingambit.

Now, the hardest challenge is finding these Bisharp packs. If you are following this guide and you haven’t found a single one in like an hour, it could happen. It just means that you are a bit unlucky.

For me, it took around 5 hours to find all three.

Here are some strategies you can do to make it a bit easier.

When looking for that Bisharp pack, use your quick battle to clear the area. It will be easier if you have a high-level Pokemon, but you will still need to recover every once in a while.

The good news is that there is a Pokemon Center near the area. Rinse and repeat, and you will eventually see a Bisharp pack. This can take a long time, but at least with this strategy, you can level up fast too.

With quick battles, you can also get a chance at spawning a shiny Pokemon. Since doing a quick battle on a shiny Pokemon does not work because they will refuse to battle them, it actually works as a notification for you that there is a shiny Pokemon.

Another strategy you can do is to use a picnic to restart the spawns in the area. You won’t get any free levels compared to quick battling the Pokemon around. However, it works just a little better if you are purely in it for the Kingambit special evolution.

Since the process takes so long, you can breed Pokemon before grinding out the special evolution. Get a Ditto and grab a Pawniard or a Bisharp. Keep breeding until you get a good Pawniard with high IVs, and then level it up.

Use the Bisharp and evolve it into a Kingambit.
