When it comes to managing a team in career mode, nothing gets me going quite as much as getting my hands on a potential superstar and developing him until he fulfills that potential.

For some people, a hidden gem in the deepest street corners of South America does the trick. For others, a well-known wonderkid already on his way to superstardom is the dream.

Whichever category you fall into, this guide to the best young players to sign in FC 24 career mode should get you excited to start a new save game and begin sending in the bids.

Best Young Player in Every Position

Let’s start off with the best young player in every major position. These recommendations only factor in the quality of the player, so there are options that you may be unable to sign at the start of your career mode due to budget or other limitations.

The best young goalkeeper is Giorgi Mamardashvili. The 22-year-old was voted best player of the season by Valencia fans and has rightfully cemented his place as first choice at the club. You’ll have to shell out a reasonable fee to sign him though.

The best young left-back is Alejandro Balde. The teenager has the biggest room for growth of all the quality options in that position. However, if you’re prioritizing higher current ability over potential, Alphonso Davies is a good alternative. They both cost a lot.

The best young center-back is William Saliba. Needless to say, it will be hard to price him away from Arsenal. However, he’s worth it if you can afford the fee.

The best young right-back is Jeremie Frimpong. His size and skill set make him most suitable for a wing-back role, so you can go for Aaron Hickey as an alternative if you want a fullback with a more physical presence.

The best young defensive midfielder is Eduardo Camavinga. He’s already good enough to play a starting role in a good team, but he’ll cost a small fortune.

The best young central midfielder is Jude Bellingham. He can do it all in midfield, and you won’t find better talent for that box-to-box role anywhere. He will bite a large chunk out of your transfer budget if Real Madrid even considers accepting a bid.

The best young attacking midfielder is Jamal Musiala. There’s hardly any strong competition for Jamal in this position, and the fact that he has 5-star skill moves further cements that narrative.

The best young left-winger is Vinicius Junior. He’s already good enough to start and be a key player for any team in the world, so he is one for the present and the future.

The best young right-winger is Bukayo Saka. Arsenal’s star boy won’t come cheap, but he is worth every penny for that inside-forward role on the right flank. Another one for the present and the future.

The best young striker is, you guessed it, Erling Haaland. The cover star of FC 24 – nothing more needs to be said.

Best Young Players for a Large Budget

If you’re managing a team with a large budget, you can probably get your hands on a couple of these options within a single transfer window. I’m looking at you, PSG and Manchester City managers!

Best Young Players for a Medium Budget

These options will not drain your transfer budget, but I would not call them “budget options” either. They sit somewhere in the middle and transfers still require a bit of planning to pull off if you’re managing a team with limited funds.

Best Young Players for a Small Budget

These players may not have the highest ceilings in terms of potential compared to their expensive counterparts, but they’re fantastic options for teams working with a smaller budget.

If you’re all about the long-term benefits of making a profit on future sales or you’re passionate about building a team that can challenge the big boys without breaking the bank, these options will do just fine.
