Historically, fullback is not one of the most glamorous positions to play in football. However, modern football is changing that fact with the increase in the number of adventurous attacking fullbacks in the game.

Now, people are paying more attention to the fullback position, including managers. This extends to games like FC 24 as well because fullbacks are often heavily involved in any build-up play on the flanks.

This guide discusses the best young fullbacks in FC 24 career mode. It includes a few well-known names that you may have to break the bank for, but also some low-key options that will do a job for managers with tighter budgets.

Alejandro Balde

Credit: FUT Scoreboard
  • Age: 19
  • Club: Barcelona
  • Country: Spain
  • OVR Rating: 81

Balde cemented his place as a regular fixture in Barcelona’s starting eleven in the 2022/23 season. His performances across the year earned him an 81-rated card in FC 24.

The card has a 4-star weak foot with 3-star skill moves and face card stats of 91 pace, 48 shooting, 73 passing, 78 dribbling, 75 defending, and 64 physical.

He’s already a pretty good left-back for many clubs’ starting elevens, but his potential ability is the best part about getting the signing done. He’s only 19, so we’re looking at a future star with an overall rating in the 90s if developed properly.

Nuno Mendes

  • Age: 21
  • Club: PSG
  • Country: Portugal
  • OVR Rating: 82

Mendes is another player that’s ready for a starting role in the left-back spot no matter the team you’re managing.

His 82-rated card has 3-star skill moves and a 4-star weak foot with face card stats of 89 pace, 58 shooting, 75 passing, 79 dribbling, 77 defending, and 76 physical.

It’s a pretty well-rounded card already, and I would focus his development on more speed and better defending. He won’t come cheap, but the best young players in career mode usually don’t.

Alphonso Davies

  • Age: 22
  • Club: Bayern Munich
  • Country: Canada
  • OVR Rating: 83

Davies is not just one of the best young fullbacks in FC 24 career mode, he is also one of the best defenders to use in the game overall.

His 83-rated card has 4-star skill moves and a 4-star weak foot with face card stats of 95 pace, 66 shooting, 78 passing, 84 dribbling, 74 defending, and 77 physical.

This card is unique because of the combination of his body type and the selection of stats. The stats make him very efficient going forward, but his body type helps out a lot in defensive plays as well.

Jeremie Frimpong

  • Age: 22
  • Club: Bayer Leverkusen
  • Country: Netherlands
  • OVR Rating: 83

Speaking of attacking fullbacks, Jeremie Frimpong is another excellent option for that role and he’s one of the highest-rated players in his position. While Davies plays at left-back, Frimpong operates on the right flank and in reality, plays almost like a right winger for Leverkusen.

His 83-rated card has 3-star skill moves and a 3-star weak foot with face card stats of 94 pace, 56 shooting, 75 passing, 84 dribbling, 74 defending, and 70 physical.

While his body type, unlike Davies’, is smaller and not as dominant defensively, it also makes Frimpong even more devastating when supporting the attack because of how good he is on the ball.

Another one for the present and the future.

Arnau Martinez

  • Age: 20
  • Club: Girona
  • Country: Spain
  • OVR Rating: 80

Like Balde, Martinez is one of the players that we expect to secure a starting role in the Spanish national team’s defense in the coming years. He operates in the right-back position.

The Girona youth product has been a regular in the club’s starting eleven since 2021, and his progress is reflected in the shiny new 80-rated card he’s been given in FC 24 career mode.

The card has 2-star skill moves and a 3-star weak foot with face card stats of 79 pace, 50 shooting, 72 passing, 76 dribbling, 76 defending, and 70 physical.

Martinez’s stats don’t look as impressive on paper as the other options we’ve discussed so far. In fact, it’s curious how this is an 80-rated card. However, he’s also much cheaper than the alternatives and there’s a lot of room for targeted development since he’s only 20 years old.

Malo Gusto

  • Age: 20
  • Club: Chelsea
  • Country: France
  • OVR Rating: 76

Chelsea is one of the best teams to manage in FC 24 career mode, and a major reason for that is the large number of excellent young players on their books.

Malo Gusto is a recent addition to the growing list of wonderkids at Chelsa, with the 20-year-old signing for the club in the 2023 summer window.

His performances for his previous club, Lyon, over the course of the two seasons that he played regular first-team football, were rewarded with a 76-rated card in FC 24.

The card has face stats of 88 pace, 49 shooting, 68 passing, 75 dribbling, 68 defending, and 73 physical.

Despite being at a top club, Gusto won’t be too expensive to buy. If you do buy him, I recommend prioritizing improving his defensive stats first.

Destiny Udogie

Credit: FUT Scoreboard
  • Age: 20
  • Club: Tottenham
  • Country: Italy
  • OVR Rating: 77

Udogie is a new signing at Tottenham, joining the club from Udinese in the 2023 summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old is no stranger to first-team football and indeed, his 77-rated card is good enough to start if you’re managing a mid-table team.

The card has 3-star skill moves and a 3-star weak foot with face stats of 88 pace, 63 shooting, 68 passing, 77 dribbling, 70 defending, and 77 physical.

With the right development program, this card has the potential to grow into the high 80s at least within a few years.

Rico Lewis

  • Age: 18
  • Club: Manchester City
  • Country: England
  • OVR Rating: 73

It says a lot about Pep Guardiola’s faith in Rico Lewis that he didn’t mind letting Cancelo go out on loan with no replacement signing in sight.

It’s also a testament to his abilities as a young player that, at 18, he’s getting minutes for a team like Manchester City.

That said, his 73-rated card won’t walk into many starting elevens at the top clubs in the game, but it is definitely up there when it comes to fullbacks with the highest potential in the game.

The card has 3-star skill moves and a 3-star weak foot with face stats of 74 pace, 43 shooting, 67 passing, 72 dribbling, 70 defending, and 59 physical.

One for the future.

Ivan Fresneda

  • Age: 18
  • Club: Sporting CP
  • Country: Spain
  • OVR Rating: 72

Fresneda is the third teenage wonderkid on this list of the best young fullbacks in FC 24 career mode.

The Spanish right-back has only just joined Sporting CP from Real Valladolid, so you may be unable to sign him in the very first transfer window of the game. There should be plenty of opportunities to sign him after that though, so be sure to add him to your shortlist.

His 72-rated card has a 3-star weak foot and 3-star skill moves with face stats of 76 pace, 41 shooting, 60 passing, 75 dribbling, 68 defending, and 69 physical.

Adrien Truffert

Credit: FUT Scoreboard
  • Age: 21
  • Club: Rennes
  • Country: France
  • OVR Rating: 76

On the opposite flank of Malo Gusto’s u21 French national team, we’ve got Rennes’ Adrien 21-year-old talent, Adrien Truffert.

Truffert has been playing regular first-team football for Rennes since 2020 and is finally getting some of the recognition that he deserves with this 76-rated card.

The card has a 2-star weak foot and 3-star skill moves with face stats of 74 pace, 55 shooting, 70 passing, 74 dribbling, 72 defending, and 69 physical.

He is another option for mid-to-low budget managers looking for a player who is decent enough to start and also has a lot of potential for growth.
