How to Change Your Appearance in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Pokémon Arceus had many different outfits, so something similar was expected in the franchise’s next game. Sadly, this is not the case.

Although you don’t have access to the same number of cosmetic options, you can change outfits and hairstyles in this game.

However, a few players might need help since the way to change outfits is different from how it was in the previous game.

This is why we decided to put together a guide that explains how to change your appearance in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

How to Change Your Outfit

Hit left on your D-Pad to open the customization menu. There, you will find up to four Outfit options.

Unfortunately, it seems that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet only provide these four options when it comes to outfits.

This is a massive disappointment if you come from Pokémon Arceus or other previous games of the franchise that seem to provide a more robust customization system.

Fortunately, you can at least change your appearance at any time. Although the basic outfits are few, you can also change gloves, add glasses, change backpacks, and even your shoes.

Once you hit left on your D-Pad, the game will open a menu in which you can check the outfits you have. Using your D-Pad, you can change the tab. Each tab has some of the accessories you can equip on your character.

There are options for socks, hats, and a few other things that can help you stand out, even if just a little.

There’s also the option to change your hairstyle and other characteristics of your character.

In order to do that, you must first hit the “+” key on your controller — in this case, the one you hold with your right hand.

Having a way to instantly change outfits is kinda nice, but only when you have enough options to enjoy the different clothes.

How To Get More Outfits

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t introduce any new outfits besides the school uniform and its variations.

It feels like Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet want the players to be always dressed as members of a renowned school where students wear uniforms.

Sadly, the developers don’t realize how to please their fans with simple things.

Pokémon Violet & Scarlet might have been complex in many. I’m sure the devs faced many issues and difficulties, but 3D models were hardly one of those issues.

This entire franchise is known for its simplistic art style, which would have made it much easier for the costumes to be added.

In the end, if you really want to stand out or customize your character to be unique, I’d focus on the other cosmetic items. A different hat and a cool backpack might make you stand out.

Once your character is finally looking the way you want, make a powerful party, learn all Pokémon types’ strengths & weaknesses, and go beat some titans, gym leaders, and star-team bad guys.
