Pokemon Legends: Arceus has flipped the script for the typical Pokemon narrative.

I think it’s utterly refreshing to see such a drastic change in a franchise that’s been going for so long. While previous games focus exclusively on catching Pokemon and winning gym badges, one of the most prominent elements in this game is gathering and crafting. As someone who’s been a Pokemon fan for over a decade, I’m in love with this new style of play.

One of the downsides to material-heavy games is that your bags can get a little cramped. That’s why it’s good to know how to upgrade satchel space in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Not having enough space to gather the materials you need for a mission can ultimately make or break your levelling experience. You’ll need plenty of materials for crafting essentials like Pokeballs and potions to keep your team in fighting fit form, too. The beginner satchel space is adequate, but as you level up, it’ll be necessary to get more inventory space.

Luckily, there’s an NPC that can help you increase your satchel space quickly. Meet Bagin.

Bagin is a helpful character in the Jubilife Village Galaxy Hall that offers up a unique organization class for a fee. This class will help you to gain more satchel space, and it scales each time you speak to Bagin. It sounds mundane, but it can be incredibly helpful to have extra bag slots when you’re pulling off multiple fetch quests or mission tasks.

To unlock the first interaction with Bagin, you’re going to need to beat the sixth main storyline mission in the game. If you’re not quite there yet, it’s not too long of a journey.

After defeating Akari or Rei and Mai for the fifth mission and dealing with the level 12 alpha Kricketune, you’ll be summoned to meet Captain Cyllene in her office, in Galaxy Hall.

If you’re struggling to tackle the level 12 Kricketune, I’d recommend hunting for a Monferno. They’re easy to find in the Obsidian Fieldlands, and having a fire type makes tackling bug types a breeze. Monferno is one of my favorite early game Pokemon that I’ve found so far in Pokemon Legends: Arceus and comes in very handy for levelling up quickly too.

Here’s a video from our YouTube with even more levelling tips.

Once you’ve beaten these missions and got the starting prompt for mission six, simply head into Galaxy Hall and speak to the captain in her office. Then, start to head back out of the main building and go back towards Jubilife Village.

Bagin is the NPC located next to the stairs, and you leaving the building will prompt him to approach you with a question about inventory space. Simply head over to him after the dialogue and speak to him. From here, you’ll be able to access the satchel levelling system.

In terms of how much you can upgrade your satchel in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it scales in price from 100 to 1,000,000 Pokedollars and offers one extra bag space each time. It jumps from 100 to 500 in increments of 100, then steadily increases and jumps up to 1000.

It does get a little expensive after a couple of lessons with Bagin, so make sure to save your coins if you’re looking to increase your satchel space dramatically. There’s 37 possible upgrades, so it’ll take a lot of overall cash to get your hands on them all.
