The purpose of a secondary weapon in Call of Duty Vanguard is to provide a lighter option that can be used when you’re out of ammo or walking up the stairs. In Call of Duty: Vanguard, pistols can be a very decent and often preferred alternative to most secondary weapons out there.

In this guide, I will provide you with a list of the best pistols in CoD: Vanguard and then share my honest opinion as to which one I think is the best amongst them all.

Having the best pistol in Vanguard as part of your loadout will not only save you in moments when you’re out of ammo but also help increase your kill count and level up faster in Call of Duty Vanguard.

The Machine Pistol

The Machine Pistol is a good choice for short-range encounters and has some use as a backup weapon. In its default build, the machine pistol isn’t as great as it can be due to the fact that you’ll run out of bullets relatively quickly compared to the Ratt or any other pistol out there.

As a whole, using the Machine Pistol will give you a pretty good chance to take on virtually any enemy in close range thanks to its impressive fire rate.

To compensate for the lack of accuracy and ammunition in the magazine, you can use some of the attachments available as you continue to level up the weapon.

Ratt

The Ratt pistol in Vanguard is another fantastic secondary weapon. It’s a single-fire pistol, meaning you’ll need to rapidly spam your mouse button or R2/RT in other to eliminate someone but if you’re accurate, it’s definitely a worthy addition to your loadout.

The Ratt is a pistol with an interesting gimmick, it shoots as fast as you can pull the trigger. Meaning, if you can click quickly enough, its rate of fire can be quite high.

Despite that, there’s a catch. You don’t have that many bullets to play around with. In its default build, the Ratt only has 9 rounds of ammunition per magazine. This means that if you’re not accurate, you can quickly run out of ammo and struggle to fight back.

Here’re some great attachments for the Ratt Pistol:

  • Muzzle: NO. 3 Rifle Brake
  • Barrel: VDD 35mm Short
  • Optic: Nydar Model 47 (Slate Reflector is also very good)
  • Trigger Action: Rapid Action
  • Magazine: 7.62 Tokarev 40 Round Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Profficiency: Fleet
  • Kit: Quick

1911

If you’re looking for the best handgun in Vanguard that requires the most skill to use, then the 1911 is a great choice. This weapon will not fire as quickly as the RATT, but it is the quickest to swap from your primary weapon. This simply means that if you run out of ammo and urgently need to access your pistol to finish off your opponent, the 1911 is probably the best for that job.

Most players might not feel much of a difference between the Ratt and the 1911, except for its eight-round magazine, so it might be better to just go with the RATT when it comes to that.

The 1911 pistol has its own qualities, but players must be quite aware of them and how to use them in order to take advantage of its quick draw feature.

In the case of the 1911, copying the attachments of the Ratt might work just fine.

Which Pistol is the Best in Call of Duty Vanguard?

Although it might not be the answer you’re looking for, the truth is that it depends on many things, and it’s hard to pinpoint which is the most overpowered pistol in CoD Vanguard.

Pistols have different purposes that fit different playstyles. Each of them has its own strengths and weaknesses, which can change considerably once you start modifying the weapons in your loadout.

The Machine Pistol can quickly kill an enemy that is right in front of you due to the very quick rate of fire. The downside is that you might run out of bullets before you know it.

The RATT is a more technical weapon that allows for both a high rate of fire and mobility, but you do depend on your aim and your finger to quickly eliminate your opponents.

Finally, the 1911 is the slowest of the three CoD Vanguard pistols, but it is the quickest to draw. It is a weapon that rewards precise aiming and constant weapon switching for better mobility. It might be the hardest one to use, and possibly the one with the best reward. However, it is also easier to mess up plays with the 1911.

In my personal opinion, the Ratt stands above them all but that is only because I am pretty good at aiming and can click the mouse button pretty quickly.
