The Gracey Auto shotgun is one of the few shotguns in Call of Duty: Vanguard that really means business. The fire rate is quite insane.

Activision claim that it can fire bullets as quickly as you can pull the trigger, so do work on that one aspect of the game if you aren’t particularly swift with spamming R2.

Despite the rapid-fire shooting potential, this shotgun is quite short range, even shorter than some of the other shotguns available in Vanguard. This, however, doesn’t really pose as an issue if you’re playing on maps that promote close-range encounters. It’s actually going to be quite the benefit.

Either way, after playing with the shotgun for some time and testing various attachments and perk combinations, I believe to have found the best Gracey Auto shotgun class setup in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Best Attachments for the Gracey Auto Shotgun

Once you reach level 31 and can finally make use of the Gracey Auto shotgun, you’ll have the ability to start using attachments to improve the weapon’s overall performance. After trying out various attachments, I believe that the best attachments for the Gracey Auto shotgun are:

  • Muzzle: G28 Compensator
  • Barrel: Sawed-Off
  • Optic: MK 3 Sunfilter
  • Stock: Removed Stock
  • Underbarrel: MK6 Para
  • Magazine: 16 Gauge 10 Round Drums
  • Ammo Type: Reduced Powder
  • Rear Grip: Hatched Grip
  • Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
  • Kit: Quick

Naturally, this shotgun isn’t the most powerful thing in the world, and although you can slay an opponent in the blink of an eye, the reload time (as an example) takes so long that if there are two enemies and you only manage to get one, then you know what is to follow.

Another thing is that the shotgun is particularly great for dealing great amounts of damage per shot. This means that if we want the shotgun to be truly great, we need more ammo and a higher fire rate.

For that reason, I’ve chosen the 16 Gauge 10 Round Drums as ammunition and various other attachments to help with the fire rate of the gun.

If you aren’t a huge fan of the simple optic, you can either remove it as a whole or add an optic that best suits your preference. I personally rarely use the optics as the recoil is quite insane so I’d rather just point and shoot without even aiming – it’s arguably better.

Best Secondary Weapon for Gracey Auto Shotgun

After trying out various of the best secondary weapons in Vanguard, we believe that the Machine Pistol really stands above the rest. It actually ranked amongst the best in our guide to the best pistols in Call of Duty: Vanguard, so that further confirms my choice. It’s quite insane. Try it if you haven’t – even without any attachments.

Here’re the attachments that make the Machine Pistol the real deal:

  • Muzzle: No. 3 Rifle Brake
  • Barrel: VDD 35mm Short
  • Optic: Nydar Model 47 (Slate Reflector is also a good option)
  • Trigger Action: Rapid Action
  • Magazine: 7.62 Tokarev 40 Round Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Profficiency: Fleet
  • Kit: Quick

The attachments provided above make this pistol the perfect partner in combat – if you can no longer rely on your shotgun to take care of things. The attachments above provide this pistol with extra stability, aggression, power, and speed, everything you need to be lethal on the spot.

Best Perks for the Gracey Auto Shotgun

The perks that I believe work the best for the Gracey Auto Shotgun are the:

  • Perk 1: Survival Training (19)
  • Perk 2: Tracker (23)
  • Perk 3: Double Time (11)

Let me give you a bit more insight as to why I picked these particular perks. I love running around and jumping at opponents with the shotgun. I noticed that a lot of players love using stuns and gas grenades to clear rooms and block particular pathways, and as a result, the survival training perk was the obvious choice for me as it makes me resistant to those.

The tracker perk allows me to see recent enemy footsteps and quite literally follow the enemy until I find them. Quite an easy elimination as in 90% of the cases, I would be approaching them from behind.

As for the third perk, I decided to go for double time. It essentially allows me to run for twice as long before fatigue and increases my crouch speed by 30% – all great mobility bonuses, which I think are super important for any shotgun player.

Best Lethal & Tactical for the Gracey Auto Shotgun

  • Lethal: Throwing Knife
  • Tactical: Stim

Why these? The throwing knife is quite humiliating. Just imagine getting eliminated by someone with a shotgun that happens to just throw a knife at you. Pretty fun, at least for me.

As for the Stim, it essentially regenerates all of your health after a tough encounter and refreshes your tactical sprint so you can continue running around without a pause.

If I were to change something, I’d probably go for a stun grenade. That’s also quite a decent choice, especially if you are playing on a map with a lot of rooms and tight spaces. You can clear spaces and disable any nearby enemies with ease before you storm inside and show them the power of the best Gracey Auto shotgun loadout.
