Nowadays, many of the great point guards can create their own shot or hit it from deep to keep defenses honest. In NBA 2K23, the ability to take and make the 3-point shot consistently can boost your gameplay experience – whether in MyCAREER or REC.

Body Settings
The current average height of point guards in the NBA is 6’3”. You can opt to create a player smaller than the average to make it quicker. On the other hand, you can choose an oversized point guard. But because of the game’s mechanics, making your player taller will cause it to be slower. Thus, we can just go with the average.
As for the weight, you can set it 180lbs or another option very close to that value. It wouldn’t have that much of an effect on the potential we will set later as long as the weight is not drastically far off the default.
The wingspan is a different matter. You will need to avoid extending it past 6’8″ because doing so will decrease the maximum shooting attributes.

Attributes

The categories you are going to want to prioritize for this archetype are playmaking and shooting. Some points also have to be allotted to the physicals department because you would want a point guard who can move quickly.
Finishing
The finishing attributes are some of the ones you will need to sacrifice. If you want a player who is strong inside the paint, you should consider going with a power forward or center instead. But because your game is based more on the perimeter, you can forgo maximizing the finishing attributes.

One of the most efficient ways to provide your team with scoring opportunities is to call for a screen and then drive to the paint for an uncontested layup or pass to an open teammate.

The Playmaker takeover is an obvious choice. When activated, it raises your chances of freezing your defenders when dribbling the ball and boosts your teammate’s shooting abilities after receiving a pass from your player.
As for the secondary takeover, you can also go with Spot Up Shooter to increase your shooting stats when your player gets hot. However, I recommend selecting Shot Creator to make your player more effective when shooting off the dribble.

When hopping on to MyCAREER on the next-gen version of NBA 2K23, you would definitely love your decision to play the point guard position because of the variety of takeovers available. The downside is that it can be difficult to select the best one.
For the primary takeover, I recommend Team Ratings Boost under the Playmaker category. When activated, your teammates will see an increase in offensive ratings. During close games in offline and online gameplay, the takeover can give your squad the win.
For the secondary takeover, you cannot go wrong with equipping a Shot Creator option. I suggest going for Pull-Up Precision under the Shot Creator takeover to help you convert shots off the dribble more efficiently.
Badges
In NBA 2K23, a new badge tier system has been rolled out, which made it more challenging for users to find the best combination of badges in the MyCAREER mode. With 66 badge points available, choosing what is best for your player can be overwhelming. So, let me help you decide which to equip.
Finishing
Since you can only unlock six finishing badges, not much thinking is involved here. Look to upgrade the badges that can boost your efficiency inside the shaded area.
The Acrobat and Fearless Finisher badges can help you convert layups of high-degree of difficulty and contact layups. Meanwhile, Giant Slayer can raise the shot percentage of your layup attempts when matched against a taller defender.

If you don’t know where to assign those points, I suggest Floor General. The badge provides your teammates offensive attribute bonuses whenever your player is on the floor. While it will not always directly impact your own stats, the badge can help your team get the win. Upgrading it to the Hall of Fame tier is definitely enticing, but the gold tier will do just fine.

The badges I recommend for those who are creating the best point guard build are the Menace, Glove, and Interceptor. These are beneficial not just in MyCAREER but also in REC games as they can help you stop opponents in their tracks or steal the ball from opposing ball handlers. Pick Dodger is also a great option, especially if you play with other users who call for screens in nearly every possession.
