You are probably here because you are stuck on a quest called Dressed to Kill. These Ushankas can be hard to get because these are random spawns from a big list of items in Tarkov.
However, you can increase your chances of getting Ushanka Hats if you know where to get them in Escape from Tarkov.
In this guide, we will focus on getting these Ushanka Hats and finish your quest for Dressed to Kill, and start progressing faster.
What is an Ushanka Used For?
Ushankas are mainly used for completing Dressed to Kill from Ragman. You need these Ushankas “found in raid,” and it can be a struggle to get one out of the raid.
After getting the Ushanka and finishing Dressed to Kill from Ragman, you will get another quest called Setup from Skier.
To complete the Setup quest, you need to wear a Scav Vest, an Ushanka, and an MP Shotgun. At this point, you do not need to get an Ushanka “found in raid,” so you can easily buy one from the Flea Market.
However, if the price is too high, you might as well keep some Ushankas inside your stash to prepare for the quest. You can also choose to farm Ushankas and make money from it.
Ushanka Spawn Locations
Most of the Ushanka spawns will come from killing Scavs and hoping they are wearing Ushankas so you can loot it off them.
However, you can also get one inside a hidden stash and the mannequins inside the stores of Interchange.
Finding one from hidden stashes is almost impossible because there are too many loot spawns that can show up inside these hidden stashes.
Your best bet is to get Ushankas from Scavs, but combining all methods will increase your chances of finding one.
You can also get two Ushankas as a reward for finishing Wet Job Part 2 from Peacekeeper, but there is a long line of quests to do before reaching this one. You will most likely get this quest (Dressed to Kill) from Ragman earlier than Wet Job.
Best Strategy to Get Ushanka Hats
The best strategy to get Ushanka Hats is farming Scavs in Interchange. There are so many Scavs that spawn inside the mall.
There are also specific spawns that are a hotbed for spawning Scavs. Check these areas below to farm Scavs for Ushankas.
- Goshan
- OLI
- Power Station
- Brutal
- National
- Mantis
- Sushi store
- IDEA
- Scav camp
All these locations mentioned spawns a lot of Scavs. If you cannot find a specific location listed, you can go to the other locations.
These Scav spawns are completely random, but these locations will spawn most of the Scavs in an Interchange raid.
You may ask, why are we going to Interchange if we are just farming Scavs? The answer is the random mannequins around the stores can also spawn these Ushankas.
Stores like Trend, Top Brand, Nortex, Kostin, and Viking can spawn Ushankas on top of the mannequins’ heads.
There are also hidden stashes outside of the mall if you can loot them on your way to the extraction point.
For other maps, you still have a decent chance of getting Ushankas since most maps spawn a lot of Scavs.
In Factory, you can even hang around the map after eliminating all PMCs and farm as many Scavs as you can until you get an Ushanka. However, this requires you to actually eliminate the PMCs in a raid to have the whole map to yourself. You can also get the Cowboy Hats using these methods.
Another great strategy is to go to Streets of Tarkov and circle around the Collapsed Crane and Concordia (specifically the parking lot and the playground).
You’ll find so many Scavs there and you’ll eventually find a Ushanka hat in no time.
