How to Get into the Raya Lucaria Academy in Elden Ring

Elden Ring features an open-world setting, but players may encounter obstacles preventing progression in certain areas.

Assuming you’ve explored the entire lake, you might have met Latenna, the Albinauric woman and finally found the Raya Lucaria Academy.

However, upon reaching its gates, players will find them locked, leaving entry seemingly impossible.

This guide will provide the solution and walk you through on how to enter the Academy in Elden Ring.

How to Enter the Raya Lucaria Academy

In order to enter the Raya Lucaria Academy, you must find the Academy Glintstone Key. That’s the item that allows you to use the seals as portals.

The first thing you need to do is check the body that lies near the entry. Once you do, you’ll see that it has a map.

If you check the map description, it says: “Simple map. Seems to point to a meeting place. The man it came from surely desired one. The sole means of gaining entry into the academy: a glintstone key.”

Where to Find the Glintstone Key

If you pay attention to the meeting place map, it portrays a peninsula-looking landmass, two iland-like landmasses, and a castle-like structure.

It resembles the Raya Lucaria Academy and the lake region on its west side. One of those areas is marked as the meeting place, so that’s where you should go.

Open your map and mark the place where you must go next. This is also one of the locations you can visit to get more dragon hearts.

Although it won’t be too hard to get this item, the glintstone key you are looking for is on a body right behind where Glintstone Dragon Smarag is resting.

You don’t have to beat Smarag, but it fights just like most dragons you might have faced so far. If you know how to defeat Flying Dragon Agheel, you will be okay when fighting this one.

If you decide to leave this dragon for later, run behind it, look for the item, and run away.

If you are successful in either defeating the dragon or getting away from it, you’re victorious. There’s nothing else to worry about regarding the glintstone key.

According to the item’s description, this item is the key to the seals binding both gates to the Academy of Raya Lucaria. It activates warp magic bound within the seals.

How to Use the Academy Glintstone Key

All you need now is to return to the Raya Lucaria Academy gate by fast traveling. After doing that, interact with the seal that locks the entrance. You will be teleported to a location within the academy.

A glintstone key will remember its user. This means that once used, it can never be passed to anyone else. The academy does not welcome the indolent.

In other words, you don’t need more than one glintsone key, and once you use a glintstone key, you can no longer give it to an NPC. If you want to gift someone with a way in the Raya Lucaria Academy, you will need a glintstone key that hasn’t been used yet.

Step-By-Step

1. Visit the Raya Lucaria Academy and search the body near the entry to find a map.
2. Travel to the location on the map, in the lake region of the west side of the Academy.
3. Search the body behind where Glinstone Dragon Smarag is resting and you’ll find the Glinstone Key.
4. Defeat Glinstone Dragon Smarag or run away.
5. Return to the Raya Lucaria Academy gate and interact with the seal on the entrance’s lock to be teleported inside.

It isn’t that hard to miss a critical piece of information in Elden Ring. It happened to me. I saw the sealed gate from afar and didn’t bother to look for what was close to it.

This situation led me to look for something else to do in Liurnia of the Lakes until I started running out of ideas.

I ended up going to the gate a second time because I didn’t know what else to do, and then I found the map that pointed to the key.
