Waterbirth Island in OSRS is a popular, crescent moon shaped island with a number of unique monsters and spawns. Some of these monsters include rock crabs, one of the game’s most popular combat training methods.

You can also find the Dagganoth Kings deep within the Waterbirth Island dungeon. These are mid-level boss monsters whom you fight three at a time, and they drop the highly coveted Archer’s, Seer’s, and Berserker’s/Warrior’s Rings.

That being said, Waterbirth Island and the dungeon found there are not for the faint of heart. The monsters you’ll find here are very strong, and require a good amount of preparation, as well as unlock requirements. In this guide, I’ll show you how to get to Waterbirth Island in OSRS.

The Fremennik Trials

You can get to Waterbirth Island in Old School RuneScape by completing several steps. First, you must start the quest “The Fremennik Trials,” though I would recommend completing it. The quest can be started by speaking to Brundt the Chieftain, inside the longhall in Rellekka, and is also required for getting to Miscellania.

FremTrials

There are a few requirements for “Fremennik Trials,” but they differ depending on how you’d like to complete the quest. You can either make a lyre yourself, or farm certain NPCs until they drop one. If crafting the lyre, you need 25 Fletching, 40 Crafting, and 40 Woodcutting.

If you choose to farm NPCs for the lyre, the Rellekka citizens who drop it are all combat level 48. You will also be required to defeat a combat level 69 monster, and survive against a combat level 100+ NPC without armor, weapons, or Magic.

With “Fremennik Trials” complete, you can talk to Jarvald on the westernmost dock in Rellekka, and he will sail you to Waterbirth Island for free. If you have started the quest, but not completed it, he will ask for a fee of 1,000 coins to sail. If you haven’t started the quest, he won’t speak to you.

Enchanted Lyre

There is another method you can use to get to Waterbirth Island in OSRS. If you have your enchanted lyre, made during the “Fremennik Trials” quest, you can use it to teleport directly to Waterbirth Island, if you have the hard tier of the Fremennik Province Achievement Diary.

Lyres can be acquired using the same methods employed during the quest. They can either be crafted or farmed from certain NPCs in Rellekka. To enchant the lyre, bring it to the Fossegrimen southwest of Rellekka. She will charge it in exchange for certain raw fish.

Fossegrimen

Presenting Fossegrimen with a raw shark will give two lyre charges, a raw manta ray will grant three charges, and a raw sea turtle will grant four charges. If you have the Ring of Charos (a), you can also give her a raw bass for two charges.

Waterbirth Teleports

You can also get to Waterbirth Island in Old School RuneScape using Lunar Isle spells. If you have access to the spellbook, which requires the quest “Lunar Diplomacy,” you can teleport yourself and groups of players directly to Waterbirth Island, using the Waterbirth Teleport and Tele Group Waterbirth spells at 72 and 73 Magic.

Teleport

If you go to the Astral Altar on Lunar Isle, you can switch your spellbook. Alternatively, you can use a friend’s Player-owned House to switch to Ancients, Lunar, Arceuus, or Standard spells.

SpellChangeLunar

You can start “Lunar Diplomacy” by speaking to Lokar Searunner on the westernmost dock in Rellekka. You will need 5 Herblore, 61 Crafting, 40 Defence, 49 Firemaking, 65 Magic, 60 Mining, and 55 Woodcutting for this quest.

You also need a number of prerequisite quests for “Lunar Diplomacy.” These quests include “the Fremennik Trials,” “Lost City,” “Rune Mysteries,” and “Shilo Village,” which itself has the prerequisites “Jungle Potion” and “Druidic Ritual.”

Angering the Moonclan

There is also a clever use of mechanics you can use to get to Waterbirth Island in Old School RuneScape. You need an item called a Seal of Passage for anyone on Lunar Isle to speak to you. If you don’t have one when speaking to them, they’ll beat you up and you’ll wake up in Rellekka. You won’t take any damage of any kind, though.

Pissed

Since teleports to Rellekka are limited in time and accessibility, this is my favorite way of getting there quickly. Simply teleport to Lunar Isle, either with the spell itself, Moonclan Teleport, requiring 69 Magic and the Lunar Spellbook active, or a tablet.

Then, speak to anyone on Lunar Isle without the Seal of Passage. There is a bank on the island, so you can simply deposit the seal and speak to the banker again. Once you wake up in Rellekka, you can simply talk to Jarvald to sail to Waterbirth.

If you have the sequel to “Lunar Diplomacy,” “Dream Mentor,” complete, you can use the easternmost bank booth on Lunar Isle without the Seal. This is a huge upgrade to the getting kicked off Lunar Isle method, as you can setup your equipment and inventory before getting to Waterbirth.

Final Thoughts

Waterbirth Island in OSRS can be accessed in a number of different ways.

For example, you can speak to Jarvald in Rellekka after starting “Fremennik Trials,” and he will sail you there. Alternatively, you can use the enchanted lyre if you have the Hard Fremennik Province Diary.

With another quest, “Lunar Diplomacy,” complete, you can teleport directly there with Waterbirth Teleport or Tele Group Waterbirth at 72 or 73 Magic, respectively.

Or, you can teleport to Lunar Isle, and intentionally get yourself kicked off without a seal of passage. Then, you can run right to Jarvald.
