OSRS’s Pyramid Plunder minigame offers money making, Thieving experience, and unique rewards to the game’s community. Players often seek this activity out to gain over 100,000 Thieving experience per hour, or to get the unique rewards used in Clue Scrolls.

Some of these unique rewards include the Pharaoh’s Sceptre, a big ticket item allowing players to teleport to various Desert locations. The Agility Pyramid, Azzanadra’s Pyramid (from the “Desert Treasure” quest), and Pyramid Plunder itself are such locations.

In the minigame itself, players get five minutes to valuable artefacts found within the pyramid. There are eight rooms within the pyramid, each requiring a different Thieving level to access and plunder.

Of course, the most valuable loot is only found in the deepest parts of the pyramid. Therefore, while the activity has low skill requirements, many players delay their visits until higher Thieving levels.

By delaying their visits to Pyramid Plunder, players can access the higher tier rooms with more valuable loot and higher experience rates right off the bat. As a RuneScape player looking for great Thieving experience rates and valuable loot, you should learn how to get to Pyramid Plunder in OSRS.

Accessing Sophanem

There are several steps to gaining Pyramid Plunder access in Old School RuneScape. First, you need access to Sophanem, the City of the Dead, in the far south of the Desert.

Pyramid Plunder is located within Sophanem. You can check out how to get to Harmony Island in OSRS for more quest-specific location guides.

To access Sophanem, you need to have played far enough into the quest ‘Icthlarin’s Little Helper’ – but completion is not required. It is an Intermediate-level quest that requires you to have a cat. You can get a cat by completing the beginner member’s quest ‘Gertrude’s Cat’ in Varrock.

Completion of Gertrude’s Cat rewards you with a cat, and you can get another post-completion by speaking to Gertrude again. The cats have various stages of growth, starting at kitten. Cats in any growth stage will work for Icthlarin’s Little Helper.

Icthlarin’s Little Helper

You can begin Icthlarin’s Little Helper by taking a magic carpet ride to Pollnivneach, then again to Nardah. Once in Nardah, run southwest from the carpet until you reach a small hut, with an NPC named “Wanderer.”

Talk to the Wanderer, and she will tell you to get rid of your cat. Simply pick it up, putting it in your inventory. Then, she will ask you for a full waterskin, and a tinderbox. Be sure to bring these items.

Tinderboxes can be bought from most general stores.

Meanwhile, full waterskins can be bought from the Shantay Pass shop. Once you give these items to her, she will hypnotize your character.

This is the plotline of the quest, getting your character to remember what they did while under the Wanderer’s control. However, they will soon wake up in Sophanem. Once this happens, interact with the northern door of the pyramid.

Interacting with this door triggers the first flashback to when your character was hypnotized. Keep in mind, once you start a flashback, you CANNOT teleport out. You must finish it, or die trying. If you really need to leave, walk back to the entrance.

It’s also worth noting that you can avoid the various wall and pit traps by using the minimap to navigate the flashback maze. By clicking on the minimap to move, your character will automatically avoid any traps they would have triggered.

Additionally, I would highly, highly recommend using the RuneLite client, and downloading the plugin “Quest Helper” from the Plugin Hub. This plugin will tell you exactly what to do, where to go, and what to click on.

The maze will also be filled with various enemies, such as level 84 mummies, and level 96 scarab swarms. These swarms can attack quickly, poison you, and physically block your character from moving.

Eventually, you will find a large pit that you must jump over. Make sure to have at least 20% run energy for this. If your Agility level is lower, you might need to save 30% of your run energy. Also try to have both hands free when attempting the jump.

If you fail this jump, you’ll end up back in an earlier part of the maze. If you succeed, click on the western door. Now, you need to solve a puzzle. If you’re like me, and don’t like puzzles in your fantasy RPG’s, the Quest Helper plugin can solve it for you.

Once the puzzle is solved, your character will wake up, fully healed and refreshed, outside of the pyramid. From this point, you will be able to access the Pyramid Plunder minigame.

Alternative Access Methods

However, there are several alternative methods of reaching Sophanem and Pyramid Plunder once you’ve progressed far enough in the quest. The first and most notable is simply using the Pharaoh’s Sceptre to teleport straight there.

If you’ve fully completed Icthlarin’s Little Helper you can use the magic carpet transport network, as well. Simply take a magic carpet from southern Pollnivneach to Sophanem. To get to Pollnivneach, you can use the magic carpet system, or teleport there with a Construction skillcape.

On the other hand, you can teleport to Nardah and run southwest from there to Sophanem. Finally, if you have the Fairy Rings unlocked, you can teleport to code DLQ. Keep in mind, the Fairy Ring is pretty far, so it should only be used if other options aren’t available.

Summary

The Pyramid Plunder minigame in OSRS can be accessed in several steps.

First, you must complete the quest ‘Gertrude’s Cat’ for access to a cat. If you don’t have a cat, you can talk to Gertrude again for another one.

With your cat, you must travel to the southern Kharidian Desert to start the ‘Icthlarin’s Little Helper’ quest. Simply play through this quest, until you’ve completed the first flashback portion.

With this stage complete, you can get to Pyramid Plunder in OSRS.
