The Lockwood is a very cool-looking Marksman Rifle that evokes the vibes of a wild west gunslinger.
This powerful rifle can one-shot people and has a very low Aim Down Sight Speed. For that reason, it is often used for running and gunning or quickscoping.
That said, it feels a bit rough when you use its base version. Adding a few attachments makes the Lockwood MK2 one of the scariest weapons in the game.
If you intend to use this rifle and need help making it effective, you have come to the right place. This guide has the best Lockwood MK2 loadout in CoD Modern Warfare 2.
The Best Lockwood MK2 Class Setup
- Barrel: 25” Buffalo Barrel
- Laser: None
- Optic: SP-X 80 6.6X
- Stock: None
- Underbarrel: None
- Ammunition: None
- Magazine: None
- Rear Grip: None
- Receiver: Lockwood MK2
- Muzzle: None
This class setup aims to restore the Lockwood MK2 to its older Modern Warfare glory. This gun packs the same power you see with the best Lockwood 300 loadout.
However, there is a trade-off. You don’t get to easily one-shot people with Hip Fire, but you do get to snipe them from a distance that a Lockwood 300 would never be able to do.
This weapon can be so fast and aggressive that using an Iron Sight and bunny-hopping around with it can be incredibly fun.
It is pretty much what I was doing when upgrading this Marksmen Rifle so I could finally have all the attachments I needed to unlock gold camo.
With these attachments, although you can’t fire from far away like with a regular sniper rifle, you can undoubtedly shoot people in the chest once and take them down.
The advantage here you have over a standard sniper rifle is how fast this gun is. The Lockwood MK2 is extremely faster than your average Sniper Rifle.
For that reason, it might be the best rifle for quickscoping when playing on a small map such as Mercado Las Almas.
The Lockwood MK2’s ADS Speed is scary fast, so if you can point and click quickly enough, you will always be at a significant advantage.
Barrel: 25” Buffalo Barrel
This piece is very important since it grants you Bullet Velocity and Damage Range, increasing the efficiency of the weapon at slightly longer distances.
You won’t be sniping people from far, far away, but it helps you hit the target. This attachment also increases your Movement Speed, which is never a bad thing.
You lose a bit of Recoil Control and Hip Recoil control, but you won’t need those. You also lose a bit of ADS Speed, but we’ll make up for that later.
SP-X 80 6.6 X
The SP-X 80 6.6 X is an optical attachment that has two different magnifications, one of 6.6x and one of 11.0x.
The reason we are using this scope is that, although you don’t really need a scope that has an 11.0x Magnification Toggle, it barely hinders your Mobility while providing the 6.6x Magnification that you want.
Once you finish the build, I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised to see how fast you can Aim Down Sight with such a big scope. It is quite fun to point at someone’s chest and take them out with a single shot.
Once you get the hang of it, I’m sure plenty of enemies will get significantly frustrated every time you one-shot them.
Stock: Lockwood Bullseye Stock
This tactical stock for the Lockwood MK2 is engineered for speed and control.
The Lockwood Bullseye Stock increases your Sprint Speed and, more importantly, your Aim Down Sight Speed.
It removes some of your Recoil Control, but recoil is not a huge issue to the Lockwood MK2 since you should not need to fire it more than once against the same target.
With this stock piece, we make up for the ADS Speed lost from the Buffalo Barrel, keeping this Marksman Rifle as fast as possible even though it has an optic attachment.
Guard: Lockwood Commando Guard
The Wood Commando Guard is a piece meant to modernize the Lockwood MK2. It supports barrel attachments while enhancing Mobility.
This guard will diminish your sprint speed but increase your Aim Down Sight Speed. Less sprint speed is not the end of the world, but a faster Aim Down Sight certainly is a great deal in this exchange.
Following the theme here, we keep adding ADS Speed in exchange for things that won’t be missed, and we have one of the fastest possible ADS with a magnifying scope in MW2.
Laser: 1MW Quickfire Laser
The 1MW is a small laser attachment that increases aim down sight speed. The blue beam of this attachment is visible, but only when you’re aiming.
This one is a no-brainer. We don’t have any use for any other attachment right now. There are some really good ones, but they make the weapon heavier, which ruins the quick ADS we want.
For that reason, we’re going with the 1MW Quickfire Laser. It has no significant downside. Besides, it grants more Aim Down Sight speed, making you even faster when holding the ADS button or key.
Alternative Lockwood Build
Even without any attachment, the Lockwood MK2 is a reliable weapon with a surprisingly quick Aim Down Sight Speed that can one-shot anyone with a body shot.
In many ways, it feels like the Lockwood 300, but it trades the pellet spread for a decent range.
In fact, this is a weapon you might want to use exactly how it is, not adding anything.
I particularly like to use things that reduce its ADS Speed in exchange for losing some recoil control.
That said, there is a case to be made for the opposite, too. If you will be jumping and double-shooting people to ensure kills, you might need some recoil control.
Finally, make sure you pair this gun with something quick and reliable. You might be okay with your pistol, but I like carrying an SMG. Check the best Taq-56 loadout in MW2 and see if that works for you.
