The crossover between Star Wars and the Soulslike formula had the world in its force choke grip. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a sweeping success, providing not only skill-based combat but a strong narrative.

The game introduced us to the troubled-but-lovable Cal Kestis. He is an abandoned Padawan, and must survive in a world that is post-Order 66. The Jedi are being hunted like rats, but this title tells a story of hope amongst the darkness.

From the strategical, action-based battles drawing inspiration from Dark Souls, and the breathtaking environments, it’s a thrilling RPG that even non-fans of Star Wars can enjoy. The blend of Soulslike elements, Metroidvania genre, and the iconic sci-fi IP is masterful.

Take the Soulslike formula, add Bruce Lee, and multiply it with Beat ‘Em Up gameplay—the outcome would be Sifu. When it comes to games like Star Wars Jedi, it’s a must-try.

The success and addictive gameplay of Sifu makes you wonder why nobody thought of Kung Fu Dark Souls before. It’s also an original take on the formula, as it adds in more roguelike elements.

It has an inventive take on death that, in comparison, makes Dark Souls look bland. Every time you die, you’ll have to start all over again. Your character grows older, affecting your stats. Aging will make the player dish more damage, but also lower their health. This adds more meaning to every death beyond just losing experience points.

What happens when you’re too old? Instant game over. You can either choose to retry the entire level or restart. This means you’ll go back to being younger, but lose any moves you didn’t permanently unlock. It’s one of the most challenging Souls games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in this list.

What makes Sifu remarkable is the combat system. It’s incredibly fluid and fast-paced, while still retaining depth. There is also a range of combos to master, and skills trees to explore. The game also delivers on an authentic experience, basing moves on the real martial arts, Bak Mei kung fu. There are over 150 unique attacks, which you can chain together.

Our roguelikes similar to Risk of Rain 2 post is full of titles that share Sifu’s die-live-repeat game design. There are also sci-fi games on the list worth playing if you’re a Star Wars fanatic.

Fans of games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will find The Surge 2 a neighborly experience. Along with sharing similar combat systems, you’ll also find familiarity in the sci-fi-heavy setting and cool swords.

This game takes place on a future-dystopian Earth. You must survive the ruthless Jericho City. It is home to rampaging robots, armored soldiers, and an apocalyptic nanotech disaster.

A quality from Fallen Order that makes Surge 2 a must-play is the narrative-driven focus. It’s rare for titles in the Soulslike genre to adopt a more linear approach to storytelling.

If you found it disappointing that you couldn’t dismember your enemies in Fallen Order—just wait. Surge 2 goes above and beyond in letting you cut up your enemies, and even taking their parts for loot.

Along with the strong main storyline, the game also offers strong side activities and quests to keep you busy. This can result in even better gear and weapons to deck out your character with.

The game also does an incredible job at building up its atmosphere. From the lighting to the visual design, the city of Jericho looks gritty and metallic. Absolutely in theme with the sci-fi robot aesthetic.

The Surge 2 really shines with its massive selection of weapons and gear. With over 8 weapon types—you have the choice to beat down enemies with fists, or even slam them down with hammers. It’s a fantastic game for fans of games like Fallen Order.

Strangers of Paradise infuses the Soulslike formula with JRPG elements well. It’s a spin-off Final Fantasy title, from Team Ninja—the legends behind the Nioh series!

For fans of the JRPG series, the game acts as a prequel to the first-ever Final Fantasy entry. With that being said, it’s still great for people who aren’t familiar with the franchise.

It does well at blending in anime-like visuals and zany story to the Soulslike formula. If you like the sound of that, our list of games similar to Code Vein is also worth reading.

The plot is an isekai, where you’ve been swept into another universe, and you’re tasked with destroying Chaos. You and your ragtag Heroes of Light are on a quest to save the world.

Instead of the Dark Souls’ staple of taking out enemies on your own, this game gives you a party.

It’s also got the signature class/job system that Final Fantasy fans love. There are over 20 different Jobs/Classes to assign your heroes, allowing diverse build options and theorycrafting. It adds a new layer of depth to the combat, and you can swap between the party members.

The combat in this game is incredibly satisfying, especially the finishing attacks. This is Final Fantasy as you’ve never seen it before—absolutely brutal and gritty. If you want to find more games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, this game is for you.

This game is dripping with atmosphere and character. If you’re searching for new games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, this isn’t a title to skip over. Its space setting is absolutely superb.

Hellpoint offers a grittier, darker take on a galactic adventure compared to Fallen Order’s brighter universe. This game is like Dark Souls meets Dead Space, and it executes it perfectly.

It flawlessly recreates everything that makes a good Soulslike. It nails the formula, providing amazing worldbuilding, rich lore, responsive combat, and great level design.

Fan of the good, old-fashioned split screen? Hellpoint is great if you’re looking for more multiplayer Soulslike options. You can take on the derelict, infected space colony with a friend. It’s one of the best games on Steam to play with a partner if you both enjoy games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

For fans of online multiplayer, you can also adventure with friends! This game takes place in space, on a station that has been overrun by demonic spawn controlled by Cosmic Gods.

The space setting isn’t all fluff either. It plays directly into the game’s mechanics. The station orbits in real-time around a black hole, which can trigger dynamic events.

Combat is extremely tight, there’s never a time when you feel like you were hit unfairly. There are also dozens of different ranged and melee weapons in your arsenal.

Do you find RPG class systems annoying? Hellpoint takes them out completely! It’s completely free-form, you can choose to use and combine any weapon combination.

Find at:PlayStation Store, My Nintendo Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Amazon
Multiplayer:Online Co-op
Average Playthrough:16 hours

If Dark Souls went to therapy, decided to stop being edgy and decided to settle down— Ashen would be the result. The theme of settling down is a focus in this game, as you’re a wanderer searching for a new home.

You’ll also see this in the game’s aesthetics. It even features a brighter color palette, and the minimalistic style is charming. It’s reminiscent of RPG titles like Dauntless and RuneScape.

When it comes to games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, what makes Ashen stand out? In the best way, it streamlines the Dark Souls experience. There aren’t any complicated puzzles, or being confused about where to go next. It makes the entire Soulslike genre accessible, which fans of Fallen Order should be ecstatic about.

This makes the game easy to jump into, and it also has a co-op focus. As you travel on your journey, you may run into other adventurers who will help you out.

One aspect this game does brilliantly is its story and world lore. The famed fantasy author behind The Broken Empire trilogy of books, Mark Lawrence, helped with Ashen’s writing.

As you progress through the game, you’ll also meet survivors you can bring back to your ‘town’. These people may be able to help you, such as blacksmiths, or foragers.

The game’s soundtrack is a breath of fresh air to the ears. If Dark Souls brought about feelings of darkness and terror, Ashen is the exact opposite. Inspiring and tear-bringing. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order fans will get a kick out of it.

thymesia swjfo
Genre:Action RPG
Developers:OverBorder Studio
Release Date:August 18, 2022
Find at:PlayStation Store, My Nintendo Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Amazon
Average Playthrough:8 hours

For everyone begging for a new Bloodborne game, the indie gem Thymesia is worth checking out. It mixes in the grim world of Bloodborne and combat with hack-and-slash elements.

From the Gothic horror, challenging bosses, and drab-colored environment, you’ll feel at home here. It might be a huge change for any Star Wars universe fans, but the gameplay is similar to Fallen Order.

In Thymesia, the heavy reliance on alchemy helped cure the world… Until it couldn’t. It became a curse, and now death and destruction plagues the land.

Plague-infected monsters now stalk the streets, and it’s up to you, playing as the mysterious ‘Corvus’ to save everyone. You can wield weapons made up of the plague to take out enemies.

As the story unfolds, you’ll also uncover the secrets behind the mysterious ‘Corvus’.

The combat and controls are intuitive, and the game offers plenty of customization in the way of playstyle. There are a range of upgrades to the character’s kit, and arsenal of plague-infused weapons to choose from. Coming straight from Fallen Order, you might find this game a tough challenge.

The combat system is more precise when it comes to timing, especially the parry in comparison. The story isn’t Cal Kestis-levels of phenomenal, but it is still one of the best in the genre.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the plague setting. It’s one of my favorite in the video game industry, so it’s nice seeing a Soulslike game take it on.

Average Playthrough:7 hours

This self-proclaimed ‘Horrorpunk’ action RPG is the perfect candidate if you wanted a top-down rendition of games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It’s one of the few Soulslikes to use this perspective.

Living up to the Horrorpunk title, the game draws heavily from legends like Lovecraft and David Cronenberg for the monster and world design. It is full of disgusting-but-charming creatures.

This game takes place in the dark fantasy world of Mornia, where a gruesome evil has taken root. You are one of the last survivors, and must exterminate the evil to save your Kingdom.

Morbid features a deep progression system, which is also supported by a diverse range of weapons. There are over 25 unique melee weapons, and even ranged weapons like shotguns.

If you’re a fan of games like Bloodborne, this game feels like a 2D adaptation. It takes the setting and throws it into an isometric camera. You’ll find this game is just as bloody too, with splatters everywhere.

Along with health and stamina, what sets this game apart is its sanity bar. It’s a unique addition to the Soulslike formula, and impacts your character’s damage and XP gain.

You can choose to delve deeper into the Lovecraftian madness and deal more damage… However, haunting specters will attack you, which means even more monsters to kill.

The game is full of a strong cast of NPCs, too. Along with addictive combat, this game delivers on telling a strong narrative, and fleshing out its world.

Tails of Iron

Genre:Action RPG, 2D
Developers:Odd Bug Studio
Release Date:September 17. 2021

Average Playthrough:7 hours

Tails of Iron is a distinct take on the Soulslike genre. When searching for games similar to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it may not seem like the two share much in common, but they’re actually quite alike.

Both are action-RPG titles, focusing on slow, skill-based combat that compliments blocks, dodges, and parries. They also both have Metroidvania platform and exploration elements.

It’s actually one of the other few Soulslike titles that have a story-driven focus. You play as heir to the Rat throne, and you’re on a quest to drive out the frogs from destroying your Kingdom.

Sounds like a children’s fairy tale book, right? This extends to the visuals, too. The game features a 2D hand-drawn art style, which is phenomenal. It’s on part with games like Cuphead.

The game features a range of different weapons to kit yourself out with. Don’t mind slow and heavy? There are massive battle axes. Or maybe you prefer a speedier spear?

It also has a focus on crafting and cooking. You can get your in-game rat siblings to help you forge new gear, or prepare a tasty meal that helps boost stats.

The Kingdom is also vast, with six different, charming biomes to explore with secrets to uncover. You can also gain allies that’ll come and fight alongside you on missions.

Best of all—this game is also narrated by the legendary Doug Cockle. His voice elevates the story, and makes the entire experience better.

Salt and Sacrifice

Available on PC, PS5, and PS4.

Games like Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
Genre:2D, Action RPG, Platformer
Developers:Ska Studio
Release Date:May 10, 2022
Find at:PlayStation Store and Epic Games Store
Average Playthrough:20 hours

This game is a sequel to the famous ‘2D Dark Souls’, Salt and Sanctuary. It builds upon its predecessor in every way, making leaps and bounds with better combat and mechanics.

It also isn’t afraid to slightly change up the series’ formula. Salt and Sacrifice adds in influences from the Monster Hunter franchise, to create a fresh and unique Soulslike experience.

In this game, you take on the role of a Marked Inquisitor. A criminal sworn to serve their kingdom, and in this case—tasked to rid the world of Mages and eat their hearts. Not the hearts of old men in robes, these mages are elemental chaos incarnate.

Don’t worry, it’s no walk in the park either. The game is famous amongst Soulslikes for its difficulty.

One of the biggest improvements over its predecessor in Sanctuary is the art style. The developers have moved away from their Kongregate, Flash-game days.

The character designs are more detailed, with a wider range of options, too. The environments and map designs are an incredible jump in quality as well.

There is a total of 8 different classes to choose from in this game, as well as a range of different gear—melee and ranged. You can sling spells, throw axes, or stick with the sword and board.

You even get to choose which crime your character committed, which will influence your abilities. The game also supports couch co-op, so you can take on mages with a friend! If you want to play more games similar to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, this is a must-play.

Honorable Mention: Elden Ring & Dark Souls

elden ring 2

On your search for games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, going straight to its influences will be the best starting point. Elden Ring and Dark Souls won’t disappoint.

The namesake and creator of the Soulslike genre, the Dark Souls series and spiritual successor—Elden Ring, is legendary. Every title holds up well, with gameplay that rivals Fallen Order.

Arguably, some Soulslike fanatics will even say better. Even if it’s just for the historic value, the games are worthwhile plays. Jumping from Fallen Order, you’ll find the gameplay elements familiar.

They share the same, slow-but-skill-based action combat and progression system. The games are also just as difficult, providing steep and satisfying challenges with their world and bosses.

It’s no lightsaber and sci-fi space fantasy, but the world of Dark Souls (and Elden Ring) is full of fascinating lore. It’s a darker universe, but it bleeds with a strong identity and is magnetic.

Just be ready to die… Again and again. Unlike Fallen Order, these titles aren’t as forgiving. They don’t offer difficulty settings, and there is no ‘story mode’ option.
